It works great. A lot easier to use in the field than umbrellas.

Photography Manager

I have mixed reviews about this product. On the one hand, it?s an excellent multi purpose modifier which is versatile and easy to set up. 

That being said, it?s a real pain trying to break it down for packing. There are no instructions on how to break it down. There?s no release latch and if you put too much force you can bend or break the rods. There you have it

Rapid Box

I recently puchased the Aputure LS C300D LED Light. I also purchased the compatible Aputure Light Dome II. The set up for the Light Dome II is both arduous and time consuming. I researched other softboxes that would be much less difficult and time consuming to set yup. The Westcott Octa XXL Rapid Box is as easy as opening an umbrella and it fits on the Aputure light.

Easy to set up

Used it for the first time last weekend and it blew my mind. I have to get use to it but this will be used often!!!

Amazed

The only reason I deducted one star is that the bowens mount rotates and that makes it more complicated to attach to the light source, because the mount keeps moving.  The quality of this diffuser is outstanding.  I love it.

Was looking for a octabox for my XPLOR600, this handled all my tasks whether it was shooting in windy conditions, studio environments, or with a heavy sun. Really pleased with the purchase and the speedy delivery and processing through my Adorama VIP360 membership.

Simply perfect

Seem well built, easy to setup and break down. Easy to transport around with included bag.   Created wonderful lighting.  I only gave it four stars because, I don’t like how the mount spins (Bowen’s mount) when trying to mount to strive & for the cost, they couldn’t just include the beauty dish plate??

I photograph upwards of 40 weddings a year and hundreds of portrait sessions throughout the year. This is a well constructed 
light modifier to take anywhere.

Perfect size for travel

This Rapid Box provides great light, as you would expect from a 48" octi. Goes up like a dream. Disassembly is equally easy, once you know what to look for. The shaft doesn't lock like a regular umbrella. Instead, two rings lock against one another. I think you are supposed to give one a 1/4 turn, but I didn't and had no problems. Using a small screwdriver, you insert the tool between the two rings, twist slightly and they separate very easily. Then it folds like any umbrella. I was getting very frustrated when trying to close until I realized how the mechanism works. Then, no problems.

A great modifier

The Westcott 48" Rapid Box Octa XXL is out of this world when it comes to great light. I love the collapsible design and ease of set-up. Nothing used to be more frustrating than dealing with rods fitting into tiny holes. 

This modifier is large enough to do big groups, yet small enough to not take up a tremendous amount of room.

The only complaint I have, and it's a tiny one, is for someone unfamiliar with how the Rapid Box works, I had a little trouble figuring out how to collapse it. I kept looking for a button to push, like an umbrella, but finally figured out it's a gentle tug and it slides down the shaft with ease.

Excellent build, gorgeous light

This is the first soft box I have ever purchased. I really like the ease of setting up and it appears to be great quality. There is soo much gear out there that it is hard to make choices sometimes. I called Adorama and spoke with someone knowledgeable and was able to purchase my first lighting set-up

Just what I have been looking for! This octa box creates soft light, perfect catch light in the eyes, easy to work with and set up and small enough to fit in my Think Tank Logistic Manager 30.

Need to get the beauty dish attachment for it now.

Best purchase

Wescott should really state the true size of this Octabox. It is NOT 48" unless they are using a special Wescott measuring tape.

Great Soft Box.. NOT 48" though.

I love this softbox. Perfect size for my FlashPoint AD600. Beautiful light quality. Easy set-up. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat!

Class Act. Durable.

I really love how easy these rapid boxes are to set up and how they soften the light. I only wish that Westcott offered a grid for this size of softbox.

Easy set up and great modifier

Got this for outside use because I needed something softer as my 16 to 28 inch beauty dishes were just a bit to harsh. This offered my client some simply wonderful, soft photos in full sun and shade outside this past fall. Used with XPLOR 600.

Amazing Product

Wow! Light writing with this feather is a breeze! BUT! If you find yourself shooting with the Westcott Rapid Box in breezy conditions...hold on to it!  :)

Just write baby!

Light gently hugging the curves of a face, highlighting the positive and minimizing the less than perfect. Easy to set up and feels like a solid build quality. All fantastic qualities in a light modifier. And this possesses them.

Soft light

I purchased this soft box after watching many videos of other photographers. I've already gotten great results out of the soft box and the explore 600 flash. My only concern was the mounting bracket that connects to the flash unit came lose and fell off. Adorama was more than willing to exchange it.

Would highly recommend this softbox. Easy setup and good quality. when I order my next moonlight I will be ordering another one to go with it.

Truly amazing box.. I use mine with the Xplor 600 TTL. 1 compliment, I just wish it came with the metal Beauty Dish attachment. Other then that, fast setup for most jobs.

Awesome product, just missing metal plate (something you think they would include).

Larger softboxes have always been a problem for me.  First, too difficult to assemble.  Second, too difficult to store.  These impediments are eliminated by the pop up design.  Also, the quality of workmanship is extraordinarily good.
