kathleen O : can I connect directly to computer without using card? ThanksGUY C : Yes the product comes with a cord (USB) which you can use to connect it to a computer. However, the scanning must be done to a micro SD card which you install on the scanner itself. Once you have scanned an object you can use the cord connection to transfer the scan files to the computer. It acts like a USB external drive at that point and you can transfer the files. FYI We have used it only once to try it out, but the scans looked good. The double wheels are helpful to keep the scanner aligned as you scan. The resolution is not as high as some others which go to 900 or higher, but the 300 makes for smaller file sizes which are usable and the 600 dpi resolution gives a very clear image which seems fine for most purposes.CARLOS K : What card? This is a USB scanner.LOIS J : Hi, Kathleen: I'm not sure whether I can answer your question. I believe that the Wolverine requires a memory card to operate. It scans independently from a computer then I use a USB cord to download the scans to my computer. I have not tried scanning directly to the computer. I don't use the Wolverine to replace my larger scanner. I have used it exclusively when I am away from my computer and need to copy records at the Town Hall or photos at a relative's home when my usual scanner is not available to me. I love the little Wolverine. It has saved me hours of hand copying data and information. I will say that the picture they show with the Wolverine ad is misleading. You need to scan either horizontally or vertically. The diagonal position shown in the photo would result in a diagonal scan that would need to be corrected. The great benefit of the Wolverine is its portability and light weight.
