I am very happy with the purchase. I had the Casio PX-870 for a few weeks before this one. The Casio had a much stronger speaker, and I liked the feel of the keys more. I returned it because it had annoying uneven gaps between the keys (google it). In comparison, the Yamaha is pretty much same look and feel, sound is same though not as powerful. The user interface of the Casio is more convenient, but I don't really care about all the buttons, bells and whistels.

What sets the Arius YDP-S55 88-Key Slim Design Weighted Action Console Digital Piano apart is its elegant white walnut finish and the advanced technology that captures the essence of a grand piano experience in a sleek, contemporary design. This digital piano boasts the acclaimed Yamaha CFX concert grand piano sound, providing players with a luxuriously expressive playing feel that rivals the original instrument. The GH3 (Graded Hammer 3) keyboard mimics the nuanced touch of an acoustic piano, offering a heavier response in the lower keys and a lighter touch in the higher octaves, ensuring an authentic playing experience.
The YDP-S55 is not just about the feel; it's also about the sound. Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite (VRM Lite) technology recreates the harmonic resonance of a grand piano, simulating the complex sympathetic tones that arise from the interplay of strings and soundboard. This results in a rich and varied sound palette that responds dynamically to your touch and pedaling, just like a real grand piano.
Beyond its grand piano capabilities, the YDP-S55 is a versatile instrument with a total of 10 built-in Voices, including electric piano, organ, vibraphone, and strings, allowing for a wide range of musical expression. It also comes pre-loaded with 353 songs, from 50 classical masterpieces to 303 practice exercises from renowned methods, making it an invaluable tool for both practice and performance.
Integration with Yamaha's Smart Pianist app enhances the YDP-S55's functionality, allowing for intuitive control over the instrument's features and access to scores of built-in songs. The app's comprehensive Piano Room function also enables you to tailor the tonal quality and resonance settings to your preference.
For those who practice with headphones, the YDP-S55 offers features that ensure listening comfort. The Stereophonic Optimizer provides a natural and spacious sound, while the new technology adjusts the sound balance according to the volume, ensuring a pleasant auditory experience even during extended sessions.
The slim and stylish design of the YDP-S55 makes it a seamless addition to any living space. When the keyboard lid is closed, it transforms into an unassuming flat tabletop, blending into your home decor with ease. Additional features include a Volume Limiter to protect your hearing, recording capabilities to capture and review your performances, and a duet mode that divides the keyboard into two identical sections, perfect for side-by-side practice.
In summary, the Arius YDP-S55 is a digital piano that offers the full grand piano experience with the convenience of modern technology and a design that complements any room. Whether you're practicing, performing, or simply enjoying the sound of a grand piano, the YDP-S55 delivers on all fronts.
