Alright I'll bite, the FX-D 100 is what they should have put out the first time. This little camera has a fun film simulation mode with a 13MP Sony sensor and decent performance. I don't think that it would outdo your smartphone, because it can't stack images, and process them, but they do have a very pleasing effect, and look nice. Even on the computer screen where they are presented in a larger format. I find that its metering is more consistent and less "blown out" than the X-Half, and the film lever on it and menus are easier than its contender, and they look better. Film sims have a nice grain that isn't overbearing like the X-Half either. I think the FX-D 100 is a better choice, because you can use the optical zoom, and it stays set, unlike the FX-D 300 which doesn't allow digital zoom apparently, and sets photos with film sims to 13MP by default which this one is just at all the time. Pros * Easy to use menus and navigation * Plenty of options and customization to the film sims and other functions * 4 User slots to save your personal preferences for shooting * Images are pretty pleasing and look nice out of the camera * Better dynamic range than the X-Half (Don't have to exposure comp it up all the time) * Hotshoe works by enabling flash in the menu and worked well with my flash * Film Sims are fun and inspire creativity * Webcam mode is a bonus * A mode zoom lets you adjust it between the detents on the lens * Decent build quality and construction * Film lever has a ratchet and is more fun than the X-Half * Animations and menus provide good feedback and a hassle free shooting experience and it responds well with out shuddering or lag * Battery lasts a good long time * IR is a real IR mode and works great, tested it with my VR Lighthouses and it works as you'd expect * 4 Custom setting memories on the dial to save your presets, neat! * You can pop in and out of "film" mode with the lever at any time, and preview your settings, which is basically what I ended up doing on the x-Half all the time after a few rolls of "film mode". * Fairly decent built in Microphone, and audio pass though *Webcam mode over USB-C that works with Zoom, Teams, and OBS Cons * Auto focus is slow to respond, and can be frustrating in low lights, its better in bright light, but expect to miss a shot, or snap it before its finished. * Zoom detents are limited to 25, 35, 50, and 75 on the ring on the "lens" and its a smaller sensor so struggles in lower light. * Lens is plastic and basically a point and shoot * Auto-focus + Manual Mode requires a weird juggle to keep the shutter depressed to focus, and a tiny jog dial on the back, so its basically impossible to use and not very accurate. * Some changes like exposure comp are not reflected on the screen so you need to preview your picture and adjust if your doing that. It does work when in Shutter Priority mode, so that's a weird one? * Frustrating manual focus with the zoom jog dial, I wish they just had that on the ring on the lens? I didn't expect to like it, but this is the camera that they should have first released on the kick-starter, its pretty fun and I have to admit that I like it over the X-Half, so there you go. If its for you its pretty fun overall, but if your looking for a more performant camera, than there are plenty of other good options too.

The film advance lever is an active part of your YASHICA FX-D creative workflow.
In Film Simulation Mode, after every single shot you capture, you will need to fully wind the film advance lever: guide the lever ahead until it reaches its stop and you hear a soft click. Without this winding action, the shutter will not release for your next shot.
By reintroducing this classic analog motion, FX-D invites you to slow down and be truly present in the moment. Each pull of the lever transforms fosters a deeper connection with your subject and the scene before you. It's a subtle yet powerful reminder to pause before every shot, which significantly enhances the unique "film experience" at the very heart of this innovative digital camera.
In Digital Mode, capture swiftly and effortlessly with instant shooting. This shooting mode is perfect for those moments when you need quick reactions, or when you prefer the straightforward workflow of digital photography.
Select your desired digital shooting options, such as Program (P) and SCN (Scene), with the Mode dial for the ideal shooting setting. The camera also offers various filters in Digital Mode, allowing you to instantly add creative flair to your images.
FX-D 100 - Compact, intuitive, and powered by a 13MP sensor. Ideal for everyday creators who want the charm of analog with the speed of digital, all at a competitive price. Available in the classic silver & black combination.
