I have five Zeiss lens, four of which are Distagon models ranging from 15mm to 135mm. The 35 mm is my first Milvus lens and it hasn't disappointed. Photos have that special Zeiss look; the lens is well built and should last a lifetime. I'm awaiting my first few rolls of film to compare it's ressolution and contrast to the photos taken with this lens and a digital camera.

Impressive

This, like almost all the Zeiss prime offerings for Nikon (and I presume Canon) are nearly flawless. This lens features stunning tonal/color rendering as well as state of the art resolution.  Of particular note is the all metal construction.  The lens is built like a tank - a tank with the feel of velvet as every control moves surely and smoothly.  A winner!

This lens is dead on! I love everything about it from the impact and water resistance to the incredible pictures it allows me to take. Nothing comes close to it. It is amazing every time. No need to try before buying, just buy it!

A requirement for serious pros

All Zeiss lenses I've used in the past have been built like tanks and this is no exception. This thing is made to take abuse. It's also tac sharp, even wide open, with very minimal flaring. I'm using mine for video production and even though the throw range is considerably short compared to cinema lenses, probably around 45 degrees, I find its still useable. One thing to note especially if you plan on using a matte box, the barrel does extend, not much, especially compared to the Milvus 100mm, but it does extend.
