Just two weeks after officially unveiling the Lumix S1 and S1R full-frame mirrorless cameras, Panasonic has expanded their Lumix line yet again, this time with two new point-and-shoot cameras: the hybrid Panasonic LUMIX FZ1000 II and the LUMIX ZS80.
Here’s everything you need to know:
Panasonic LUMIX FZ1000 II:

The hybrid digital camera features a large one-inch 20.1MP MOS sensor that makes it powerful in low light and boasts improved color depth performance, all with a significant reduction in noise, even when shooting a high ISOs. The FZ1000 II also includes 4K video (in 3840×2160 30p or 24p in MP4) and 4K photo with 30fps in 8MP.
Key features:
- 1-inch 20.1MP MOS sensor
- 16x optical zoom Leica DC Vario-Elmarit f2.8-4.0 lens
- 5-axis hybrid optical image stabilizer
- 4K video capabilities (3840×2160 30p or 24p in MP4)
- 4K photo capabilities (30fps in 8MP)
- High-speed OLED live view finder
- 3-inch, 180-degree rotating, and 270-degree tilting touch control display
- Built-in Bluetooth and WiFi
The integrated Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens has a 16x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 25-400mm) with f2.8-f4.0 that has controlled and even defocus with no edge line.
A 5-axis hybrid Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) and Active Mode work together to combat hand shake and reduce blur while Zoom Compose Assist powers in during telephoto mode to help users track a subject when you may have lost sight — a useful tool for those capturing wildlife, sports, or quick-moving candids.
The Photo Style function has two new added modes: L.Monochrome and L.Monochrome D, which add the option to shoot dynamic monochrome images that retain all of the details of the photo, but emphasize highlights and shadows throughout the photo. The Post Focus function also lets you capture a photo, and then select the in-focus area afterwards, an especially handy function for macro photographers.
The LUMIX FZ1000 II is available for preorder for at Adorama.
Panasonic LUMIX ZS80:

This pocket-sized point-and-shoot camera is designed with compactness and travel-readiness in mind. The 1/2.3-inch, 20.3MP MOS high-resolution sensor delivers powerful low-light performance and the 24mm ultra-wide angle 30x telephoto lens makes it a great companion to your travel gear list.
Key features:
- 1/2.3-inch 20.3MP MPS high-resolution sensor
- 24mm ultra-wide angle 30x Leica DC Vario-Elmar telephoto lens
- Power Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS)
- 4K video capabilities in 3840×2160 at 30p
- 4K photo capabilities at 30fps in 8MP
- 0.21 viewfinder
- 3.0-inch 180-degree tiltable touch-control monitor
The camera’s 3.0-inch tiltable rear touch-control monitor gives users the option to transition from selfies to panoramas, and even in 4K (at 30fps in 8MP). The lens (a 35mm equivalent of 24-720mm) has a zoom range that can track and photograph many subjects, and Depth from Defocus (DFD) technology gives you the ability to capture high-speed burst shooting at 10fps (AFS) or 5fps (AFC) to photograph high-speed subjects.
The optical image stabilizer significantly reduces hand shake, especially when in telephoto mode, and the 4K video in 3840×2160 at 30p or 24p in MP4 lets you capture your most memorable experiences. An added Sequence Composition mode synthesizes multiple images (which were shot at a fixed frame rate with 4K Photo) into a stromotion image that’ll reflect your moving subject’s path.
Utilize the camera’s 3.0-inch touch and tilt display to capture the angle you want, and share using Bluetooth and WiFi for quick connectivity, no matter where you are.
The Panasonic LUMIX ZS80 is available for preorder for in both black and silver at Adorama.
