Peak Design originally launched the Travel Tripod on Kickstarter last year, quickly raising more than $12 million dollars thanks to the support of more than 27,000 backers. Now, the tripod has launched worldwide and the company has announced that all of the profits from the first four days of sale of every tripod will be donated to fund coronavirus relief and to fight climate change.

Travel Tripod by Peak Design: It's here.

Aiming to provide significant financial support toward COVID-19 aid and the fight to stop climate change, the company has announced that 100% of profits from sales through Friday, April 10, 2020, will be donated. The CDC Foundation and Climate Neutral will be the recipients of the funds, and aid will be directed at individuals, communities, businesses, and healthcare providers who are on the front lines of fighting the pandemic and climate change.

Peak Design — which is already a Certified B Corporation, and a member of Climate Neutral Certified and 1% for the Planet — has long been dedicated to giving back and supporting the community.

“In the midst of these strange times, there are some unique things a company like Peak Design can do to make an impact beyond ensuring the health and safety of our own employees. For one, we can do our best to keep the economic engines going by keeping our contractors and partners gainfully and safely employed,” says Peak Design Chief Marketing Officer, Adam Saraceno. “Secondly, we can donate the money we make to those who are working to solve the problem. We’ve chosen to do both.”

The launch of the tripod — which first debuted in May 2019 on the crowdfunding website — was immediately met with excitement from the photo community. Known for its portable build, easy setup, and packable body, the unit is designed for beginner and professional photographers alike.

With no unnecessary bulk, the entire tripod deploys up to 60 inches tall and packs down to the size of a water bottle. You can easily slip it into a backpack or pocket and continue on your adventure. The ergonomic design maintains load capacity, a fast setup and takedown, and does it all for life — it’s supported by the company’s lifetime guarantee. Weighing in at 2.81 pounds and 3.44 pounds for the carbon fiber and aluminum alloy bodies, respectively, the tripod can support up to 20 pounds of gear, and measures just 15.4 inches when completely collapsed.

The tripod comes equipped with a single omnidirectional ball head adjustment ring, which locks in for security and stability and nonslip rubber feet that absorb shock and keep your gear solid.

The unit also features a built-in mobile mount that holds any phone or case, is weather- and impact-resistant, and includes a slim, protective carry sleeve.

The Peak Design Travel Tripod is available now in Aluminum () and Carbon Fiber () at Adorama.
