Questions & Answers

Shopper : How does this lens attach to a 24-105mm lens?VASU S : I am sorry I do not own 24- 105mm lens. I use this polarizer with a Nikon 16 -35 lens and then a Nikon 70 -300mm with a adaptor ringDENNIS C : No such thing as a 24-105 lens. Need to know the listed size ie 77mmSUE H : If your lens is 77mm, then it would attach the same way as any other lens. You screw it on.GERALD S : There are inside threads at the end of the 24-105 so it simply screws on. Do not screw it on tightly, just enough to hold it in place as you rotate the polarizer.
BARTON P : How will this filter work on my Nikon 10-24mm lens?WILLIAM H : I shoot Canon so I cannot comment on the Nikon lenses. It is a good product as I am using it. Can recommend it.TOM J : Quick answer: This is a great filter. Well made, smooth operation, etc. It will screw onto the end of any lens that has a 77 mm diameter filter thread. Details: Filter threads are standardized so the make/model of a lens doesn't matter, only the filter thread diameter matters. To determine the needed filter diameter, check the front end or front side of the lens for a symbol that looks like an "O" with a line through it (greek letter Phi). Next to that will be the filter size. For a lens with 77mm diameter filter thread it will look something like O = 77mm or O 77 mm. For these examples I've used "O" in place of the greek letter.RICHARD L : Polarizers are generally not well suited to wide angle lenses. At 10mm you will get uneven tones, the results will be better at 24mm.MARTIN E : You should consider one made for wide angles since many of the standard ones will vinginette (sp?)AARON B : It won't. No screw-on filter will because of the large convex outer glass on the lens.
Shopper : Does this work on canon 7d?CHIAPENG C : It works on lenses with the right size of filter threads, which is 77mm in this case, on all modern digital cameras, including Canon 7D.RICHARD M : It should work as long as you are putting it on a 77mm lens. The type of camera should not matter. The lens needs to be threaded on the endDONALD M : The fit is based on the lens not the camera model. You need to check out the lens(es) you are using and select the appropriate sized filter. For example, this 77 mm filter is usually associated with the f4 L series lenses.CHERYL W : It doesn't really matter what camera you have. The better question is whether it works with your lens. Does the lens take a 77mm filter? I have lenses (for my Canon 7D) that take a 77mm but also ones that take a 58mm filter.IAN T : The filter mounts on the lens, not the camera body. Look at the edge of your lens to see what size it will take. You are looking for a number with "mm" immediately following it.VASU S : I am sorry I do not know. I have been using this on my Nikon D7000

Frustrated

B&W product quality good as usual. However, Nikon Coolpix P900 does not permit through the lenses viewing, adjusting the polarization is useless.

Great CPL filter

Another fine B & W product. The threads are perfectly machined and the CPL functions smoothly.

High quality and superior optics

I am a long time B+W owner. I recently purchased a new lens which used a smaller filter size. Based on my years of happiness with my current B+W polarizer, I again purchased a B+W polarizer. I value their attention to detail, high build quality, and superior optics.

B + W Polarizer

If you buy a $1,500+ lens, don't compromise with a 30 dollar filter. Buy something comparable to the amount you spend on your lens. I hope this makes business sense.

Great quality, very serviceable

Works just like you would expect - screw-on attachment and adjustable polarization by rotating the filter.

Great quality.

This is a well constructed and robust filter. I also have a handful of B+W ND filters and enjoy their products very much. It is important to me to use a filter that does not shift my color. A number of filters on the market do horrible things to your color and are pointless to use. Polarizers have a particular use, so make sure you understand the specific purposes of this type of filter before purchasing.

Lens Protection worth the cost

This works as expected. When you spend hard earned money on the glass you need to protect it, this does that for me.

Very good filter, for the money

Yes, you could spend a couple of hundred on a name brand filter from Canon or Nikon or Hasselblad, but this is definitely a good buy for the money. Good threads, not the kind that tend to cross-thread, and a good smooth rotation. Would recommend to a friend!

Great polarizer

I had all 77mm lenses but then added a 24-70 2.8L 82mm along with a 16-35 2.8L so it was time to add a new Polarizer. I knew B+W products were good but this is really excellent. Quality through and through and it does what it's supposed to do. Adorama is easy to deal with online but sometimes you need to talk to a rep and mine was super helpful. Great service and highly recommend this polarizer.

A Couple of Drawbacks

I use only my Canon's Manual setting, and I use long lenses infrequently. This polarizing screen, while it delivers what it promises, darkens my viewfinder sufficiently that I have great difficulty seeing my exposure information. If I were not retired, this would be a hindrance, as it slows down the shooting process. In addition, the threading on the screen does not meld easily with the lens. This, again, slows me down. That said, the screen removes reflections to provide me with outstanding color rendering.

WORKS WELL WITH SKY & SEA SCENES

This filter worked well while in Florida shooting scenes that included both the blue sky (with varying degrees of clouds) and ocead waters. Helped greatly to limit reflections off the water and to enhance the contrast between the blue of the sky and the white of the clouds.

Excellent, as expected

During our last trip to Sedona, AZ, I did a little experiment of my own: for every red rock, I took two photos, one with this B+W polarizer and one without. Immediately afterwards, right on the camera's monitor, I could see the marked difference in the photos. I don't need any reviews or persuasion on which filters to purchase. For me, it's B+W all the way.

You Get What You Pay For

By Steven L.

Used for landscape color correction/enhancement in skys, and for detailing stream beds. B+W filters are top quality, and multi-coating enhances durability and consistency in all outdoor situations. You get what you pay for; quality gear equals quality results.

Superior CPL

By Lawrence W.

[Use on a digital SLR.] Use mostly outdoors. Cuts haze and pops colors. Most useful to enhance the sky on landscape photos. This filter is made very well. The threads fit perfectly. The glass is multi coated to help prevent lens flare. Makes backlit shots easier. The best circular polarizer I've ever had.

• Polarizer filters evenly increase color saturation of all colors (except black and white), creating deep, rich scenics.
• They add contrast for dramatic skies and ariel shots.
• Polarizers also eliminate glare from highly reflected surfaces like glass and water.
• Polarizers are two part lenses that rotate, allowing you to select the degree of additional saturation, contrast and glare reduction desired.
•They come in two varieties.
• Circular-for all types of cameras (required for beam splitting metering systems commonly found in auto-focus SLR's and in most current TTL Slr's; check your camera's manual).
• Linear-for rangefinders and older SLR metering systems.

B + W Circular Polarizer Features

  • Multi coated for flare prevention.
  • Gives the same deep contrast and glare reducing properties to black and white photography.
  • Combines with Red filters for incredibly dramatic black and white landcsapes.
