The innovative design of this telescope includes a larger 144mm diameter worm wheel for smoother operation and more accurate driving of heavier loads. The extended 270mm dovetail saddle ensures better support for larger optical tubes. With home and limit optical sensors, polar alignment adjustments are easier than ever, and cable management is significantly improved.

The CGX-L 1400 EdgeHD is not just advanced, but also sturdy and ergonomic. It boasts a compact, lower profile equatorial head for improved stability and portability. The heavy-duty belt-drive system minimizes backlash while providing smooth motor operation at full capacity. The mount features clear windows built into motor covers, allowing you to monitor pulleys and belts.

This telescope is equipped with an aplanatic Schmidt telescope design, producing aberration-free images across a wide field of view. The primary mirror is held in place by mirror tension locks, reducing image shift. Cooling vents allow hot air to be released from behind the primary mirror, and the telescope is Fastar compatible for fast f/2 imaging.

The CGX-L 1400 EdgeHD comes with Celestron's new PWI telescope control software, co-developed by PlaneWave Instruments. This software features multi-point mount modeling for extremely precise pointing accuracy. The "All-Star Polar Alignment" allows for quick and very precise polar alignment, aligning on any bright named star without the need for extra polar alignment accessories, apps, or other assistance.

The telescope also features an accessory tray that holds three 1.25" and two 2" eyepieces with an upright stand for your smartphone or tablet. The heavy-duty, 31.5mm stainless steel counterweight shaft supports additional counterweights. The mount supports WiFi and wireless operation accessories such as StarSense AutoAlign and SkyPortal WiFi Module (sold separately).
