The Wolfgang Special boasts a basswood body with an elegantly arched top, complemented by a robust graphite-reinforced bolt-on quartersawn maple neck. This neck is meticulously carved and rolled to Eddie Van Halen's exacting specifications, featuring a hand-rubbed satin urethane finish on the back for a smooth, comfortable grip.
Designed for high performance, energetic riffing, and blazing leads, the 12"-16" compound radius ebony fingerboard is equipped with 22 jumbo frets and pearloid dot inlays, ensuring effortless playability and a sleek aesthetic. Truss rod adjustments are made simple with a spoke wheel conveniently located at the base of the neck, allowing for quick and easy modifications.
At the heart of its powerful sound are the custom-designed EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbucking pickups, mounted directly to the body. These pickups deliver dynamic yet articulate voicing, offering endless sustain for powerful chords and expressive melody lines. The guitar's tuning stability is ensured by the sturdy EVH-branded Floyd Rose locking tremolo system and Floyd Rose locking nut, which maintain precise tuning even with extreme pitch changes. Additionally, the innovative EVH D-Tuna allows for seamless retuning to drop-D and back with the flick of a finger.
For enhanced tonal control, the volume knob features a treble bleed circuit with a 500K EVH Bourns low friction pot, allowing for smooth volume swells. The tone control knob is equipped with a 250K Bourns high friction tone pot, preventing accidental tone shifts.
