Epson's UltraChrome HDR ink is more than just colorful. It's a high-density resin-coated pigment ink formulation that includes three levels of black ink technology - photo black, light black, and light light black. Alongside cyan, light cyan, vivid magenta, vivid light magenta, yellow, orange, and green, it also includes matte black, which can be auto-switched with photo black. This generation of UltraChrome HDR ink delivers a range of benefits, from reduced graininess in skin tone areas to smoother tonal gradation from shadows to highlights.
The UltraChrome HDR ink also boasts excellent short-term color stability and outstanding long-term lightfastness. It provides highly accurate color control with neutral black and white, and high gloss levels on water-resistant prints. The introduction of two high-capacity ink cartridges (350 and 700ml) contributes to a lower cost per milliliter of ink and reduces the need for frequent cartridge replacements, promoting greater unattended printing.
The Stylus Pro 7900 and Stylus Pro 9900 printers, designed for use with this ink, feature Epson's MicroPiezo TFP (Thin Film Piezo) print head with 360 nozzles per inch for each of the ten active ink cartridges. Epson's Ink Repelling Coating for the print head and Automatic Ink Detection (AID) system work together to minimize and detect nozzle clogging before it happens, eliminating downtime and reducing paper waste during the cleaning process.
