This lens is tack sharp and that quality really shines with the medium format camera! Even wide open, this lens is extremely sharp all the way to the corners, it does improve very slightly when stepped up to 5.6 but the difference is so small that you really need to look very intensely at a blown up image to find it. Although this is a macro lens, it actually works very nicely also as a portraiture lens with very nice bokeh. In addition to the clarity of this lens, the image stabilization is a very nice addition. Due to the high pixel count on the medium format sensor, a person can be very restricted on the situations where you can hand shoot with this camera, especially if you are wanting to keep the ISO at 100, and so gaining at least 4 stops, if not 5, is very valuable and allows a person to shoot hand held a much greater percentage of the time.

I was super excited to get the Fuji GFX 50s and the zoom lens. I added the 120 f4 as a "I need a portrait sytle lens as well". The 120 has not really left the front of the camera. It produces beautiful, crisp, images, the ergonomics feel great in my hand. While it is easy to hand hold for a short time (hour or 2), I'm sure that it would do best being on a tripod for a long shoot. I highly recommend this lens and the medium format system as a whole. The attached image was a test shot when I first got the camera lens combo.

Because capturing the finest details matters to professional and enthusiast photographers alike, the GF 120mm f/4 R LM OIS WR Macro Lens emerges as an essential tool for those who demand precision and versatility in their imaging. Designed exclusively for the G Mount and engineered to complement the 43.8 x 32.9mm sensor size, this lens is a testament to optical excellence, capable of rendering images with clarity and sharpness that meet the demands of up to 100MP resolutions.
This high-quality medium telephoto macro lens boasts a maximum magnification of 0.5x, equivalent to a 95mm lens on a 35mm format, allowing photographers to explore the world of macro photography with ease and precision. The advanced optical construction of 14 elements in 9 groups, inclusive of 3 ED lens elements, ensures minimal chromatic aberration and maximum resolution. The innovative floating focus system, powered by a linear motor, delivers silent and high-speed autofocusing while effectively correcting aberrations across all distances, enhancing image resolution dramatically.
The GF 120mm lens is not only innovative in its focus capabilities but also in its image stabilization technology. With a mechanism that corrects up to a maximum of 5.0-stops, this lens is a game-changer for handheld shooting, especially in low-light conditions. The durable front element is treated with a fluorine coating, making it an excellent repellent of water and stains, further solidifying this lens as a reliable companion for outdoor photography.
The lens's intuitive controls are designed for ease of use and efficiency. The aperture ring features a C position, allowing aperture adjustments directly from the camera body's command dial. Both the A (Auto) and C positions are lockable, preventing any accidental changes during critical shooting moments. The focus range selector is another versatile feature, enabling the photographer to optimize the focus range between macro and mid-telephoto settings, thus reducing autofocus time.
Durability is a cornerstone of this lens's design, with a robust brass mount and a weather and dust-resistant construction that can withstand temperatures as low as -10°C. This resilience ensures that photographers can capture the world's beauty in even the most challenging environments without concern.
The GF 120mm f/4 R LM OIS WR Macro Lens is not just a lens but a comprehensive professional package. It comes bundled with a ProOptic 72mm Filter Kit to enhance image quality and protect the lens, a Flex Lens Shade to prevent unwanted glare, a Lens Wrap for added protection during transport, a LensPen Cleaner for maintaining optimal lens condition, a Lens Cap Tether to secure your lens cap, a thorough Cleaning Kit for upkeep, and a PC Software Kit to further enhance your photographic work.
This lens is set to become the professional's workhorse, offering advanced, high-quality imagery with the versatility and durability required for a wide range of photography scenarios, from detailed macro shots to beautifully blurred backgrounds in medium telephoto compositions.
