This is, without a doubt, the best printer I've ever purchased. I've had it several months without a single malfunction. It was a little pricey but worth every penny and then some. Everyone should be as lucky as I am and have one of these printers. FANTASTIC!

Needless to say, this review is accurate for all 3 of the different versions of the M651 printer. We bought this printer on the premise of: 1) Speed and 2) Cost per page. #2 was assuming the stated results of 15,000 pages per toner cartridge for the color cartridges and 10,500 (for the standard black) and 20,500 (for the large black) cartridge. The results we have seen so far are so far below these that they are unbelievable and make the cost of printing with this printer simply unacceptable. The box states 98 lbs and the printer itself is stated to be 86 lbs. These are believable numbers. I agree that this is not a desktop printer, the footprint is too large, plus if a jam occurs (which has occurred twice so far) you may have to open a drawer on the right which extends about a foot or so. When printing, the first 4 copies come out at a reduced rate, then the printer prints much faster. The printer periodically pauses printing at which time "Cleaning" is displayed on the LCD. The rate at which this occurs seems to be far too often and definitely impacts the overall printing speed if you are printing a large job. In addition to cleaning, the printer periodically pauses and the word "Calibrating" appear on the screen. This takes longer than the "Cleaning" cycle. Even on top of that, I am very happy with the speed of printing. The cost per page, however, when looking at the toner cost is through the roof, so much so that this printer is simply not economical. Here are the exact number of pages that I have gone through so far as reported by the printer: MonoChrome: 1205 Color: 5768 At this time I have already used up the original black cartridge that came with the unit and am on the 2nd one. It reports: 3521 pages printed : Approximately 1200 remaining. This is on the LARGE cartridge that quotes 20,500 pages. That also shows that the original cartridge only lasted for 3452 pages. That includes the fact that I had to manually accept to continue printing once the cartridge showed "VERY LOW" in toner, which was the last 500 pages or so. This prompt occurs every 50 pages and although it is controllable by the user, once the pages start to streak you're done. 50 pages is too many to print incorrectly - probability states that on average you will print 25 poorly once you are in this phase. The Cyan cartridge expired after 5469 (but remember, 1205 were mono, so only after 4264 color) pages - I am on the 2nd Cyan Cartridge. IT has printed 1504 pages and reports 2100 remaining. Magenta: so far the Magenta has printed 5138 color pages and reports approx 650 remaining Yellow: so far the Yellow has printed 5388 and reports approx 400 remaining. Oh.. I am printing right now and just got the "VERY LOW" warning from the yellow. This means that the cost per page is at roughly 3x higher (for the color cartridges) than if you expect 15k pages. The Black Cartridge cost is through the roof. The original printed 3452 out of an expected 10,500, meaning the cost is 3.04 times higher. This new (large) cartridge has printed 3521 with 1200 remaining - so I expect 4721 from it. This means that the cost of printing using the large cartridge is 4.34 times higher than expected. I have not printed any duplex pages so I cannot comment on that. Now, compare this to my old (1998 vintage) HP Laserjet 4000. This was a black & white only printer, but, a high capacity cartridge there is supposed to print 11k pages. Historically I have been able to print in the neighborhood of 6000-7000 pages with it. It is much slower, however, the cost per page is so much less than with this new printer that the new printer is simply not economical to print with. I have only owned this printer for roughly 3 weeks. I am considering returning the printer under my 30 day return policy - that is how unhappy I am with this product.
