I like it but wish that it was three sections instead of four. The tripod has worked well so far.

Heavy duty, very sturdy and quality built. Heavier than I expected, not a quick setup as the twist lock legs take quite a bit of twisting before they loosen enough to extend legs. I'm not sure I needed such a hevy duty tripod, but seeing as my last tripod buckled under 10 lbs, rated to hold 12, I didn't want to spend the same amount of money on a top of the line tripod rated to hold 18 lbs, when for the same cost, this Induro will hold over 40lbs. It may be a bit heavy, but the Induro isn't going to fail risking my long lens.

This is my 7th tripod. Like anything else features and specifications are best matched to the application. With this purchase I have 3 main tripods and they each have a purpose. 1) Light and small tripod Sirui T-005KX is great for travel and backpacking/hiking. If the purpose of the trip is not specifically photography then this is the unit for me. I use this with a M4/3 camera or cell phone. 2) Medium weight CF Sirui M-3204 is a great all rounder. It weighs in a 4.5 lbs and is 59 inches to the base of the head without the center column extended. The top section leg diameter is 32mm and it has built in retractable spikes. This is great when I am going to hike a few miles (up hill both ways) and the purpose is to take photos and return the same day. The M3204 is a great unit and I still use it. I have started doing more focus stacking and panos etc.. that need a more stable platform with more versatility. A systematic tripod with adaptability and components to fit the needed application. When shopping for a system tripod there were a few criteria. Stability - 32+ top leg section diamter and no center column. Height - most of my work is low to the ground... think wide angle and macro. System - Feet for the legs, plates and video leveling bowl, center column if needed and it needs to be industry standardized stuff.... no Feisol Brand - Well known and solid reputation Price - This basically leaves out RRS and Gitzo I was debating getting the 304L or this 404L. The 304L is the same height but weighs about a pound less than the 404L. It takes the 75mm video bowl and plates for the 2 and 3 series spider. Its upper legs are 32mm diameter. It costs the same as the 404L. The 404L has a larger spider and takes the 100mm video bowl and plates for the 4 and 5 series spider. The upper legs are 36mm diameter. I was also considering a Sirui SR-3204 and although I like the brand, I couldn't find many reviews or information. 3) This new Induro GIT 404L ticked all the boxes. It is a heavy duty tripod with a resonable weight of 5.7 lbs. It is 59 inches to the base of the head and the top section of the legs are 36mm diameter. It comes with standard rubber feet, oval pivoting feet for flat surfaces and short spikes. The thread for the feet is a standard 3/8-16 UNC. This one is for when I am staying near the camp or vehicle. It is also for sketchier locations and wherever grip, traction and solid support is critical. Seascapes are a perfect example. A few nits to pick... The leg locks are more like a 1/2 turn to lock, and the size of the locks are long. By this I mean that although I wear a XL glove getting all 3 locks in one hand is not possible so locks are opened and closed 1 at a time. The bag will not be used and is way overdone. I would rather have the video bowl and leveling adaptor than the bag. There is also a zippered bifold for the tools which is unneccessary. Why are there 3 types of wrenches needed for this tripod and only one 6mm allen wrench? The rubber feet are hand tightened, the oval feet use one size wrench and the spikes use another size... accutually the spikes have a hole that doesn't go through which is wierd. There wrenches are included BTW. If all of the feet had a 7mm hole they could all be attached and removed with the same 6mm allen wrench which is used to tighten the leg joints, but to do this properly 2 wrenches are required... so why is only 1 is included?

If you're looking for a heavy duty yet light weight tripod this is the tripod for you. It handles 55 lbs. and has and interchangeable base that allows you to switch to the mount you need in seconds.

Great quality -- everything feels very well made. So far I haven't found anything I dislike about it. I do wish that the legs would come with hash marks to make it easier to set & change the height of the tripod. To be fair, I don't know any tripods that come with height markings, but it would certainly make height adjustments quicker and easier.

I love this tripod. I shoot with a Canon 1 DX II and a 500 mm F4 lens. This tripod and the Induro gimbal handle it like a pro. I decided to use Induro gear verse the more expensive options. I made the right decision and I never worry about my gear on this tripod. Yesterday while removing my lens I accidentally broke the bubble level. My fault. I just spoke to Steve in customer service and they are mailing me a new one. I had my credit card but didn't need it they are sending it free. Made my day. I highly recommend this tripod and Induro equipment. You will be happy with this tripod.

I had several Manfrotto’s and Benro’s over the years. They were all excellent however they were just too heavy. This Induro is light and just as dependable as the above mentioned units. I am using my Manfrotto video head and all is well for photo and video application. Comes in very nice bag.

I purchased the GIT504l for an amazing price.. 299.00 brand new...I couldn’t pass up the bargain. When The tripod arrived I was anxious to see how sturdy it was, I opened it and leaned all my weight on it and it never budged. This tripod is rock solid and for the price even at 750.00 it really can not be beat!

A very solid tripod that I have only recently started using. I will be using this as a travel tripod for large format landscape photography. Advantages: 1. Extremely good support to weight ratio 2. No center column 3. Quality leg locks and hardware. In fact, this is my fourth induro tripod of varying sizes. I have used several other brands and greatly prefer induro. Moreso now that they are making center column-less tripods.

Lightweight, versitile, sturdy. I used this tripod to hold my star tracking mount and camera with 300mm lens. Holds great and I had no concerns about it tipping. I would love if it were just a few inches taller, but for the money, I have 0 complaints. Fantastic purchase. Highly recommended.

This turned out to be a great purchase. The size of the tripod is ideal for studio and travel. It serves the best of both worlds providing a stable base yet portability. It collapses to 21.3" and weighs only 4.2 lbs (excluding a head). While a series 3 tripod may be sturdier with larger diameter legs, the extra bulk is often not warranted by comparison. The GIT204 will cover 90% of my applications. The optional telescoping center column is likely a future purchase, simply because I like the adjustability for portraits and fashion. On the other hand, the ability to use a gimbal head is ideal for landscape work and an optional bowl will low me to expand into more video work. While not the smallest or the largest tripod, this model is superbly constructed and covers all the bases in between. You also receive a nice carry bag, foot options and quality tool kit.

This is a solid tripod that I highly recommend. It carries comfortably over the shoulder and sets up hassle free. In a perfect world, I'd like it about 5 inches taller, but for the on sale price I picked up for, I couldn't turn it down. That said, overall, I'm very happy with it!!

Great tripod. Really like the lack of the center column and the removable ball head plate. Glad I went with the three section instead of the four. It's not much longer collapsed and is quicker to setup.

Have used it only twice as of now. I'm happy with it. I had worried some about whether the total height might be too short, but I think in almost all cases it will be fine. I have a Wimbrly WH200 Gimbal head on it, and most often it has a Nikon 500 F4 lens with a heavy body sitting on it. The tripod takes this load in stride.

This is a very good tripod legs set. I replaced a Manfrotto CF which had too much wobble in the wind (PROB3). There is a bit of wobble if you hit the leg but it settles fast. Because of the wide flat base and no center column this is pretty solid at the top and increased weight at the top makes it more stable. I am 5'7" and it is just about right for my height when the tripod is locked at full height. The way to tell I found is this: Take your height minus 3 -4 inches. That is your eye height. The height with the gimbal up to the viewfinder in my case was about 9 inches. In my case it worked out perfectly. Excellent tripod bag, tools bag -(with wide foot and spikes included. Leg locks not quite as easy as Gitzo - cannot one-hand all the locks at one time. Leg extension locks are solid though even if they do not click into place.

I compared between Gitzo with some other name brand. Saw Induro in the local store. It looks and feels good to me. And it is a lot cheaper than Gitzo. And Induro GIT403 got a great review. I just want a 3 section tripod. Decided to give it a try. Pretty happy with the purchase. It is steady. Bag is in a good size. It fits the tripod with ballhead on.
