Overall excellent keyboard. Lightweight, but the action and build quality seem mostly decent. Two main issues I have: 1. The clear plastic lens in front of the display comes loose and will vibrate/rattle/buzz when certain keys are played. I can try pushing it back down to make it stick, but it will still come loose. 2. The action is a little bouncy, in that when you let off a key, you'll notice that it "bounces" a few times before coming to a stop.

This is my first keyboard and I am used to playing a 6 foot grand, so keep this in mind as you read this. I find the action quite pleasing and easy to play. The onboard speakers are quite good as well as using headphones. The sound is good, but still nothing like my grand piano. The sound is not as rich as you would expect. Having tried several other keyboards prior to purchase I found the Kawai ES 920 to have the best action and sound. I would purchase this keyboard again.

It's almost shocking to play this piano and hear the room fill with rich and natural piano sound. As a former grand piano owner, I feel that the ES920 is a very close approximation to the feel and sound of a fine grand piano, but since I also play organ it serves two purposes! The weight is light enough for one person to manage to carry it. Mine is in the white color, and it looks beautiful. The action feels like an actual acoustic piano, and details like the half-pedal sound and the long overtones create an impression you have a real grand piano present.

I just had the opportunity to spend some time playing a ES920 , having owned a ES8 since April 2016 . At 73 years of age and having played the piano since 1955 , I am well qualified in my judgement of these two Kawai instruments . They play about the same , except for the increased speaker power of the 920 . My only concern is the thin plastic construction of the ES920 , compared to the heavier and more robust metal construction of the ES8 .... I guess time will tell ! . I simply love my ES8 and still believe it is the very best when it comes to portable pianos .

The all-new ES920 portable digital piano is the next generation in Kawai's highly regarded ES series. Powerful, compact, and amazingly lightweight the ES920 is perfectly suited for home, studio, stage, or school.
Combining the class-leading Responsive Hammer III keyboard action with the authentic sounds produced by our Harmonic Imaging XL technology, the ES920 delivers the outstanding touch and tone of a concert grand piano in one of the most capable portable pianos available.
A potent selection of acoustic piano sounds and a variety of outstanding instrumental tones support a wide range of musical styles. These sounds are delivered through a powerful stereo speaker system that incorporates the latest audio processing and amplification technology that was developed in collaboration with the audio specialists at Onkyo.
Access to sounds and features is by way of its intuitive panel design and sharp OLED graphic display, as well as the ES920's convenient 4-band EQ faders that provide even more control.
Bluetooth MIDI and Audio connectivity facilitates wireless enjoyment of many apps, such as Kawai's PianoRemote, and listening to music from a smartphone or tablet through the ES920's impressive audio system. Wired connectivity is also supported with standard MIDI, USB, and Line In/Out. At just 37 pounds the ES920 is surprisingly lightweight yet sturdy and delivers the most rewarding piano playing experience possible in a portable digital instrument.
Responsive Hammer III Weighted-Key Action, With Ivory Touch Key Surfaces and Let-Off Simulation
The new Responsive Hammer III (RHIII) action recreates the distinctive touch of an acoustic grand piano, with its realistic movement and accurate 3-sensor technology providing a smooth, natural, and highly responsive piano playing experience.
The weight of the keyboard is appropriately graded to mirror the heavier bass hammers and lighter treble hammers of an acoustic piano, while structural reinforcements within the action assembly ensure greater stability during fortissimo and staccato passages.
The ES920 digital piano also features Kawai's Ivory Touch key surfaces that gently absorb finger moisture to assist the player's performance, while, let-off simulation recreates the subtle "notch" sensation felt when softly playing the keys of a grand piano, satisfying the expectations of the most discerning pianists.
Shigeru Kawai SK-EX, SK-5, and Kawai EX Instruments Reproduced with Harmonic Imaging Sound Technology
The ES920 digital piano captures the rich, expressive sound of the Kawai SK-EX, SK-5, and EX grand pianos, with all 88 keys of these exceptional instruments meticulously recorded, analyzed and faithfully reproduced using Harmonic Imagingsound technology.
This unique process accurately recreates the broad dynamic range of the original grand pianos, affording pianists an extraordinary level of expressiveness ranging from the softest pianissimo to the strongest, boldest fortissimo.
The instrument's built-in Virtual Technician feature allows various characteristics of these acoustic piano sounds to be shaped at the touch of a button, with settings to adjust string and damper resonance, in addition to subtle hammer, damper, and key release noises.
This personalized piano sound is further enhanced with atmospheric reverberation effects, delivering a rich, vibrant piano tone with breathtaking realism and authenticity.
Strong Selection of Additional Instrument Sounds
Complementing the realistic acoustic piano voices, the ES920 digital piano also features a strong selection of additional instrument sounds, ranging from electric pianos and drawbar and church organs, to string, choir, and mallet instruments, inviting musicians to add greater variety to their performances.
Furthermore, the Dual playing mode also allows two different sounds, such as grand piano and strings, to be layered together, while the Split and Four Hands modes divide the keyboard into two independent sections. The volume balances for each playing mode can also be adjusted quickly and easily using the real-time panel controls.
USB to Device Functionality, with MP3/Wav File Recording and Playback
The ES920 digital piano is equipped with USB connectors that not only allow the instrument to be connected to a computer for MIDI use, but also to load and save data to USB memory devices directly.
This USB to Device feature allows registration memories and songs recorded and stored in internal memory to be saved to USB for posterity, or standard MIDI files (SMF) downloaded from the internet to be conveniently played back without additional hardware.
USB memory devices can also be used to play back MP3 or WAV audio files, allowing musicians to learn the chords or melody for a new piece, or to simply play along with their favorite songs. It is even possible to save performances as MP3 or WAV files for emailing to friends and family, listening to on a smartphone, or for further editing using an audio workstation.
Wide Range of Connectivity Options
The ES920 digital piano features a variety of standard connectivity options, with Line-level output jacks that allow the instrument to be enjoyed in larger settings such as churches and schools.
Standard MIDI and USB to Host connectors ensure flexibility when using computers and other electronic instruments, while the Line-in stereo jack provides a convenient method of mixing in audio from a laptop, tablet, or other digital device.
Integrated Bluetooth. MIDI Connectivity
In addition to standard MIDI jacks for connecting to other instruments, the ES920 digital piano also boasts integrated Bluetooth MIDI and Audio technology that allows the instrument to communicate with supported smart devices wirelessly.
Once connected to a phone, tablet, or laptop, ES920 digital piano owners can enjoy a wide variety of exciting music-related apps that enhance their learning and playing experience, or stream audio from songs and videos through the instrument's speakers without additional cables.
