Overall excellent keyboard. Lightweight, but the action and build quality seem mostly decent. Two main issues I have: 1. The clear plastic lens in front of the display comes loose and will vibrate/rattle/buzz when certain keys are played. I can try pushing it back down to make it stick, but it will still come loose. 2. The action is a little bouncy, in that when you let off a key, you'll notice that it "bounces" a few times before coming to a stop.

This is my first keyboard and I am used to playing a 6 foot grand, so keep this in mind as you read this. I find the action quite pleasing and easy to play. The onboard speakers are quite good as well as using headphones. The sound is good, but still nothing like my grand piano. The sound is not as rich as you would expect. Having tried several other keyboards prior to purchase I found the Kawai ES 920 to have the best action and sound. I would purchase this keyboard again.

It's almost shocking to play this piano and hear the room fill with rich and natural piano sound. As a former grand piano owner, I feel that the ES920 is a very close approximation to the feel and sound of a fine grand piano, but since I also play organ it serves two purposes! The weight is light enough for one person to manage to carry it. Mine is in the white color, and it looks beautiful. The action feels like an actual acoustic piano, and details like the half-pedal sound and the long overtones create an impression you have a real grand piano present.

I just had the opportunity to spend some time playing a ES920 , having owned a ES8 since April 2016 . At 73 years of age and having played the piano since 1955 , I am well qualified in my judgement of these two Kawai instruments . They play about the same , except for the increased speaker power of the 920 . My only concern is the thin plastic construction of the ES920 , compared to the heavier and more robust metal construction of the ES8 .... I guess time will tell ! . I simply love my ES8 and still believe it is the very best when it comes to portable pianos .

Just 37 pounds in weight, the Kawai ES920 88-Key Portable Digital Piano is a marvel of modern engineering, blending portability with the uncompromising quality of a concert grand piano. This stylish white bundle is not only a testament to Kawai's legacy of high-quality musical instruments but also a versatile and durable choice for musicians of all levels.
The ES920 stands out with its Responsive Hammer III keyboard action, which meticulously simulates the touch of an acoustic grand piano. Its advanced 3-sensor technology ensures a responsive and natural playing experience, with graded weights across the keyboard to mirror the nuanced hammer response of traditional pianos. The inclusion of Ivory Touch key surfaces adds to the authenticity, providing a comfortable grip that absorbs moisture and enhances playability.
At the heart of the ES920's exceptional sound is Kawai's Harmonic Imaging XL technology. This captures the exquisite tonal character of the flagship Shigeru Kawai SK-EX, SK-5, and Kawai EX concert grand pianos. Every key of these illustrious instruments has been recorded, analyzed, and faithfully reproduced, offering pianists a dynamic range that spans delicate pianissimo to powerful fortissimo.
The ES920's sound is customizable through its built-in Virtual Technician feature, allowing players to shape their piano's character. From adjusting string and damper resonance to fine-tuning hammer and key release noises, this digital piano offers a personalized experience that satisfies even the most discerning pianists.
Beyond its acoustic piano capabilities, the ES920 boasts a robust selection of additional instrument sounds. Electric pianos, organs, strings, choirs, and mallet instruments are all at your fingertips, ready to enrich your performances. The Dual, Split, and Four Hands modes offer further versatility, allowing for layered sounds or divided keyboard sections for duets and teaching scenarios.
Connectivity is a breeze with the ES920's comprehensive range of options. USB to Device functionality enables easy data transfer and storage, while MP3/WAV file recording and playback capabilities allow musicians to accompany their favorite tracks or share their performances. Standard MIDI, USB to Host, and Line In/Out jacks ensure seamless integration with other devices.
For the modern musician, the ES920's integrated Bluetooth MIDI and Audio connectivity opens up a world of possibilities. Wirelessly connect to smart devices and explore a plethora of music-related apps or stream audio directly through the piano's high-fidelity speaker system, developed in collaboration with audio experts at Onkyo.
Completing this bundle is the HM-5 Designer Wooden Stand and the F-302 Grand Feel Triple Pedal Bar, which together provide a stable and aesthetically pleasing foundation for the piano. The padded piano bench offers comfortable seating during long practice sessions, and the H&A Studio Monitor Headphones allow for immersive, private playing.
The Kawai ES920 88-Key Portable Digital Piano bundle is an all-encompassing solution for those seeking a comprehensive, high-quality piano setup that is both portable and ready to support any musical journey.
