I use them as lens caps. The standard caps can fall off to easily.

This is the best way to carry a few filters and close up lenses without the bulk and weight of all the plastic cases.  I love this set up.

I bought two set of these - 52mm and 58mm.  I'm ready to go out and shoot having polarizers, ND grads, and a close up lens for my telephoto.

Stack Caps On The Go

These filter stack caps work and do the job well. They are well machined, so they fit accurately. I would give them five stars if they were make of brass so they would be less prone to binding, AND if they had raised, knurled edges on their sides to allow a better grip. 

Storing filters in a stack requires more time to access the filter you want than storing them in sleeves, but they are much less likely to be scratched by surface grit and the dirt that inevitably finds its way into the filter sleeves.
