Enhance your solar observation experience with the Sky-Watcher Heliostar 76mm H-Alpha Solar Telescope, a groundbreaking addition to the Sky-Watcher family. This dedicated Hydrogen-alpha (Ha) solar telescope offers unparalleled views of the Sun, revealing dynamic solar phenomena that go beyond the capabilities of standard white-light solar filters. Capture stunning images of solar prominences, active sunspot regions, bright plage patches, surface granulation, and intricate plasma filaments with this advanced instrument.
The Heliostar 76mm Ha Solar Telescope is designed for both novice and experienced astronomers, arriving fully equipped with essential accessories for immediate use. Included are mounting rings, a V-style dovetail, a Heliostar solar finder, a dual-speed Crayford focuser, an 11.5mm blocking filter, a clip-on sunshade, a 20mm 70-degree 1.25" eyepiece, and a camera phone adapter for quick photo sharing. All components are securely housed in a rugged carrying case, ensuring portability and protection for your telescope.
This telescope is the official solar telescope of the Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project, an initiative that has educated hundreds of thousands in solar astronomy across 27 countries since 2008. The Heliostar 76mm Ha offers exceptional double stack performance with its Solis Etalon Technology, achieving a 0.55A bandpass without the need for an additional etalon filter. This innovation provides detailed solar disk images right out of the box, making it a cost-effective choice for solar enthusiasts.
Safety is paramount with the Heliostar 76mm, which meets ISO 12312-2 safety standards. Each unit is rigorously tested on the actual Sun to ensure safe solar viewing. The 11.5mm blocking filter in the removable eyepiece diagonal is a critical safety feature, and it is essential to use only the specified diagonal to prevent eye damage.
At the core of the Heliostar's capabilities is the etalon filter, a sophisticated optical device that isolates the Ha wavelength (656.3 nm) for detailed study of solar phenomena. The Trifid Tuner, a unique feature of the Heliostar, allows precise tuning of the etalon by applying physical pressure to the etalon plates, ensuring optimal observation of the Sun's chromosphere.
Paired with the Sky-Watcher SolarQuest Mount, this telescope offers a seamless solar tracking experience. The SolarQuest mount, equipped with the patented HelioFind solar finder and built-in GPS, automatically levels and calculates the Sun's azimuth and altitude with a single button press. This user-friendly mount is ideal for eclipse chasers, educators, and anyone passionate about solar observation.
Whether you're observing sunspots, planetary transits, or solar eclipses, the Heliostar 76mm H-Alpha Solar Telescope with SolarQuest Mount Kit provides an unparalleled view of our nearest star, making it an essential tool for any solar astronomy enthusiast.
