This high-quality filter is particularly effective in warming 'cool' flash exposures, offering a subtle yet impactful difference to your images. As the mildest option in the renowned 81 series, the 81A filter has a filter factor of 1.4, requiring an additional 1/2 f-stop of light. This versatile filter is designed to balance the color rendition on film, regardless of whether you're working with natural or artificial light sources. The 81A filter is equipped with a 'filter factor', a measurement of the light it absorbs. This feature ensures that cameras with internal metering will automatically adjust the exposure, simplifying your photography process. For those using external or handheld meters, you'll need to account for this factor to achieve optimal results. It's important to note that modern strobes (flash) approximate midday sun, so any warming or cooling filtration with flash should be based on 'daylight'.
