Great when it works ($96 Ink Set Price)

Love it when it works! This printer continually goes offline and I have to kill the queue and then restart the printer. Now after a couple of years, the expensive HP ink cartridges $96 set are starting to throw communication errors and will not work, even after cleaning. The FAX is iffy, I have a rural line and if there is an iota of static it fails, and I have to pull out my old FAX machine which doesn't have issues.

Bad Printer

I bought this printer a couple of years ago and this is the worst printer I've got in my life. 9 out of 10 disconnect from wifi, you need to reset the wifi again, its painfully slow and the ink is very expensive. Do yourself a favour and don't buy cheap stuff. I'm going to threw away

Doesnt work

Owned this product for multiple years and it gives me an issue at least 1/4 times. Now it refuses to acknowledge that there is no paper jam even though I followed the HP guidelines on how to fix it. Overall expensive ink for a printer that wont even recognize it 1/2 the time. (don't worry I removed the plastic tab)

Absolute garbage

Bought an OfficeJet 5255 about a year ago. Today we had to switch internet providers and I have spent an hour on the phone with someone that speaks less than minimal English trying to get this thing to work again. Both printer and computer are connected to the same wifi and the computer says it is connected with the printer. The printer copies just fine. But when I go to print from the computer, it says the printer is in error and gives no further instructions. Safe your money and invest in a printer that actually works and that doesnt produce problems harder to solve than a rubix cube. What a joke.

Love, love, love my new HP Printer

I have enjoyed this printer from day one. I print cards. I've printed recipes and created a new recipe book. And all from the comfort of my chair.

Definitely High Tech printer

I bought this printer last June. I really like the way it communicates with HP. I get ink when I need it automatically and I can scan directly to my email. The only glitch has been a surge in electricity caused me to have to re-boot everything like I had just bought the product but it did not take long to download and update.

Great All in one printer, etc.

I am impressed how well it scans and the pictures are so clear. The only thing is the first round of printer cartridges didn't last very long.

Very Poor Printer

Purchasing this printer was a big mistake. It usually just prints just a few blurry lines on the page. Ink runs out quickly.

Hp5252

I have had this printer for more than two years. The ink goes empty real quickly. I never get quality photos. There are no usb slots or extra access for a cable to hook up to ethernet, and I wish I could just use a thumb drive to print from. This is always losing connection wirelessly and there are days of reset.

This printer is buggy and useless.

I purchased this printer on the advice of a salesman at Best Buy. It has never worked consistently in the year that I have owned it. It will work fine for a few days, then it says that the "printer cartridges are not aligned" and when I check them, there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. Once you reset the cartridges, it just gives you an error message with no instructions. The app that comes with it is also useless when it comes to troubleshooting, and it is difficult to order ink through the "Instant Ink" program. I should not have to wonder on a day-to-day basis if my printer is in the mood to work. I would strongly discourage anyone from purchasing this model, and I will never purchase another HP product again.

Great Value for basic printing needs

I bought this printer because it was on sale. It has good easy to understand instructions on how to set it up wirelessly so I can print from my phone. I needed to buy my own cord to attach it to my laptop so I could print from my laptop. Printing from my laptop was a bit complicated, but eventually I realized there was an HP app that I had to open to print from. Overall, it's a decent printer. I don't print very much, but I do like the use of the ink cartridge replacement service HP offers.

More trouble than it's worth

I bought this printer about a year ago. I thought it would be nice to have a wireless. Getting it to print, though involved more than just hitting the button. The printer differentiates between .pdf files and anything else and you have to jump through some hoops, depending on what computer you're using (we have two). I didn't use the printer for six months, and when I came back to it, It wouldn't connect to my laptop anymore. I tried reinstalling the software, no dice. hP tech support is non-existent, their online help is no help and you can't talk to a person. I finally got it to print a .pdf file on my boyfrind's computer, but there were some symbols that weren't on the original document, and it still won't print a Word doc. If you buy this, good luck.

Nice printer!

Have only used this a few times in the couple of weeks since we purchased it, but so far so good. Good, clean, fast printing. Have scanned once or twice - no problems.

This printer is terrible -- the worst I've ever owned. It drinks the ink. breaks cartridges (2 for me) color cartridges both had ink leaking on them. So slow to connect. It is not a good printer at all. Wireless connection is terrible, spotty, so slow when it does connect sitting literally next to the modem. This thing probably would be eligible for a 'lemon-law' product suit.

Difficulty opening the paper tray. To get it fully open I have to tip the Printer on edge which I don't like to do.

Instant Ink Issues

I would have given a higher rating but I have an issue with HP regarding Instant Ink. When I first bought my printer I was advised to subscribe to Instant Ink, which I did. When I relaized I didn't need a constant supply of ink I opted out of the subscription, however I still had ink from the program which I paid for. I was surprised to find out that I couldn't use the ink because I wasn't enrolled anymore, even though I bought the ink. I don't think this is fair.

Works about half the time

Printer status is ready, but printer will not print. Status error with no error code. Wait a day, then it may print. Not reliable. Purchased 63 ink, so I have to live with this. Buyer beware. I used to recommend HP when they made a decent printer for home use. My third HP with 2 of 3 not printing. Make a better product HP.

I purchased this printer last week. I had been searching for a relatively inexpensive printer that can scan legal size documents. The specs listed are quite confusing as it mentions that it can scan legal size through the feeder but then says that it only scans through the flatbed. Based on that, I contacted customer service through the live chat to ensure that it would meet my needs before purchasing. The representative told me the printer would not work for me as it does not have a feeder even though it was listed as one of the features of this printer. (I did get the feeling that she was trying to sell me on more expensive models that were way out of the budget I gave to her). I read an article about this printer that said it did in fact scan legal documents so I took a chance and ordered the printer anyway. It does have a feeder and it does scan legal documents, which is the only reason I was purchasing a new printer to begin with. As a bonus, it will also print legal documents which is nice, but was not necessarily a requirement for me. The printer itself is sleek looking and while a little wider than I was hoping, it does not actually take up too much room. It is a little slower than I'd like and the paper seems to jam every other time I try to scan, but I can make it work for the time being. I love the wireless capability and the touch screen is easy to use. Print quality is good. I did have to set it up manually as the HP Smart software could not locate the printer. Manual set up was easy and did not take too much time. Overall, it is a pretty decent printer and I am happy that I listened to my gut and not the customer service representative.

Love it!...Very happy with purchase!...Thanx HP!

By Aladdin S.

Bought this from the HP Store at a great price (To replace my HP Officejet 4620 that finally gave up the ghost after about 6 years) about a month ago and so far I love it! It prints, scans, copies and faxes which is all I needed and does each task very well and with quality! And I'm also glad this printer uses 2 ink cartridges (1 black and 1 multi color) instead of the 4 ink cartridges my older printer mentioned above did! Good printer to have at home

By Rudytherod

This printer operates really well. The price is reasonable, installing was easy there is no disc to mess with, everything is on line. There is 2 cartridge to install not 4. I will mainly print documents not photos. I use my iPad to print and scan, the app is really easy to use. The printer is reasonably quiet and the quality is really good. You have the option to choose a plan for your ink.
