If you are looking for an ultra wide angle with minimal distortion that also matches the look of your other sigma lenses this is a fantastic lens. The only reason I gave this 4 star instead of 5 is because this lens is not quite as sharp when wide open at 4.0 as the sigma 18-35 is when when open at 1.8... additionally there is a little more chromatic aboration when comparing this lens with others in the sigma line. Nonetheless both of those difference are not noticeable until scaling the image up to 300-500% and should not deter the average consumer or professional when considering the alternative options

I have wanted to add a super wide angle lens for some time now and this lens did not disappoint. Sharp images and a very high quality lens. I love the Sigma Art Lens. I added this to my Sigma 18-35 and Sigma 50mm. Love them all!

Using with Nikon D850. Out of the box not sharp, but with a lot of trial and error using the USB dock, have it set up now for great results.

The Cannon 11-24mm f/4 and the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 has nothing that the Sigma 12-24mm f/4 lens has. I've used the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 and its a great lens, but I honestly think that the Sigma lens is sharper thrugh its entire range. Sigma has a very big winner here.

Unique lens for unusual perspectives. When fine-tuned for autofocus using the Sigma USB Dock you can achieve very good to excellent sharpness for all focal lengths and subject distances. The AF fine tuning takes a lot of trial and error, with multiple setting, review on computer, then wash rinse and repeat.

In the reviews that I read, a Canon Lens at twice the price was slightly better. THIS IS A LENS! It is sturdy and substantial, quick to focus and never having had this wide an angle lens, it is fun to work with. There is no way to attach a filter and once your see the lens and the bulging glass, you realize why. I have only scratched the surface of playing/experimenting with this lense.

Good lens overall but I returned it and got the canon 24mm tilt shift instead. If I just needed wide angle, this would be the lens but I shoot architecture a lot so the TS fits my needs. For landscapes, this is phenomenal!

It a truly great lens. I love it. I would recommend to anybody any day. In fact, I already have. We know that the normal human field of vision is about 50 degrees. That's why a 50 mm lens is called a normal lens. When you have an extremely wide angle lens such 12 millimeters, you can create some amazing effects that take the viewer's breath away, especially with landscape shots.

I waited for many years for Canon to produce a spectacular ultra-wide and when they finally came through, I was disappointed at the cost because I doubted I could ever own an ultra-wide lens at that point. But then, Sigma came out with a nearly equivalent ultra-wide and I just had to try it. So I rented it for a few weeks and I was hooked. I love that I can zoom all the way out to 12mm and still have fairly straight lines (using the lens profile in LR to adjust lens almost has no effect, it is so close to perfect SOOC). The build quality is amazing and so are the pictures. Highly recommended.

This is a magnificent beast of a lens with superior optics. This lens beats my Nikon 16-35mm. The distortion is very well controlled. It's incredibly sharp. It's great for architectural and real estate purposes. Sigma has come a long way with their Art Series. Well worth it.

Heavy solid lens. OK lens front cover. Optically decent. Nice focus travel. May replace Canon14L. Stay tuned!

Everything photographers require of an ultra-wide-angle zoom and more.
The ultra-wide-angle zoom pioneer, SIGMA has developed and launched many extraordinary products in this category over the decades. Now SIGMA introduces an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that is perfect for the era of ultra-high resolution digital cameras.
The SIGMA 12-24mm F4 DG HSM | Art offers an optimal package of center-to-edge image quality, minimized distortion, and minimum focusing distance. To achieve these qualities without compromise, SIGMA has leveraged its lens design expertise and all of its leading-edge technologies. Advanced materials such as low-dispersion glass play a crucial role, while SIGMA's advanced lens processing methods have made possible an aspherical lens of extremely large diameter.
Outstanding image quality from center to edges
When it comes to ultra-wide-angle lenses, photographers require outstanding image quality from the center of the image to the edges without any distortion. Such performance is particularly valuable in architectural photography. The new SIGMA 12-24mm F4 DG HSM | Art leverages SIGMA's accumulated expertise in the processing and manufacture of aspherical lenses and incorporates multiple aspherical lenses produced with precision glass molding. The lens also features lens elements made with FLD ("F" Low Dispersion) glass, which is equivalent to fluorite in performance, and an optimized power distribution. Together, these features help minimize distortion, transverse chromatic aberration, and coma flare. As a result, image quality is outstanding across the image, all the way to the edges.
