Took photos in wind-blown harbour area with excellent stability, Was initially nervous with a 70-200mm lens and full frame camera body on top but withstood the buffeting of wind and weather extremely well.

This is a very stable light weight you can buy to handle most of the situations. With the next generation Canon teles coming out that are light you may not need a bigger or 5 series tripod.

Professionals recommended for nature photography. Glad I bought it.

While this tripod is pricey it is so worth it. Very well made and is certainly tall enough for me (I am 5'10"). I would recommend a gitzo to anybody who can afford one.

I was tossing up between going with a cheaper option like Benro but decided to just stick with the proven quality. I'm glad I did as the first time I used it my caution was evident. A fellow photographer had a failure with a Benro and had to go without their support for the rest of the day. This will last a lifetime so just don't skimp on these items and invest in quality. I chose this model as I didn't want a centre column nor did I want to have to crouch at full extension. I am about 5'11" but this is the perfect height with a ball head fitted. This is a great stable support, but don't buy this if you like to keep your kit light and portable for say travel. The lack of centre column minimises weight, adds stability to the design, and allows the frame to press flat to the ground. Although it is missing the centre column it is not missing the hook to add weight for extra stability. I decided to buy the Gitzo bag to ensure adequate protection and a good fit to look after my long term investment, and I'm glad I did as it is a quality item. I also bought the spiked feet for use on grass or other suitable terrain.

I use this tripod equipped with Gitzo rapid column and Manfrotto 468 ballhead mostly for long walks. Additionally, I also use the following combo for indoors and precision wotk: Gitzo GT3330LS tripod(Alum), Gitzo geared column and Manfrotto 405 geared head. Everything is just perfect.

It is a fantastic tripod. Tall enough to give you that different angle when needed. Rock stable, light. No center column (avoid the monopod on tripod effect). Better to buy the best and only have to do it once - this is it!
