It is a OK lens. I had 2 of these and either lens was very sharp. I got the Tamron 11-20 now, and it is much better.

Amazing ultra wide angle lens. Have been using it for more than 6 months and it has been outstanding. There is usually a problem with the edges of the photos especially when I use 10mm, but that could be because of my APS-C camera.

I bought this just before Christmas even though I didn't think I'd get any use for it until summer, but I was wrong: it comes to the beach in winter, it comes out for sunset and blue hour, so good!

Finding that I was more often than not using my 16-70mm lens at the wide end. Decided to buy this 10 - 18mm. I am not disappointed Image quality is excellent being sharp with no chromatic abrasion. Focus auto/man and stabilization on/off switches would have been nice but I've dedicated spare buttons for convenience. I am not disappointed.

Love the lens, I've gone 100 percent Sony native for my A6000. I needed a wide angle with OSS and this was it! It's become a welcome addition to my bag!

I've been using a friend's SEL1018 for a while and had to purchase one for myself as this lens is super flexible when trying to shoot wider subjects. 10mm is great for landscapes and tight spaces and architecture but I also end up using 18mm quite a lot for street photography. This lens is actually the one I use the most when travelling.

Nice and wide and lightweight and th autofocus works well with Sony cameras of course. There’s a very small improvement in quality over much cheaper lenses however including the a6300 kit lens and the Sony 28mm 2.8 pankcake both many hundreds of pounds cheaper. Disappointed.

I am on my second lens. Adorama was vey good about replacing the first because it just didn’t seem to have a sharp focus, especially at f stops above about f10. The second one seems a little better but it still is not as sharp as the other Sony lenses I have. I needed a wide angel lens so I have just accepted this is about as good as Sony can do on a lens of this type.

This is the first lens I bought for my Sony a6400. I took it to Costa Rica with my girlfriend and captured some beautiful landscape and portrait images on the beach. With such a wide aperture, it’s best in situations where you have lots of light like a beach. Photos in low-light with this lens need to be steady otherwise you’ll get noticeable blur or have to make the shutter speed so low that the picture is underexposed. There is also a fair bit of distortion when in the 10mm setting, which is easily removeable in Lightroom. Great lens and lived up to the hype you find online

The autofocus is good and imahe quality is okay but $900 for this lens is insane. It's not weather sealed and rather slow for a small focal range (f/4... Should be f/2.8). A $500 price tag would've been an easier pill to swallow and believe me, I'm a Sony advocate. I do however like the size and weight of this lens. It's perfect for my a6500 and suits as a decent vlog lens.

Took the lens and my a6000 to Gettysburg last week. Numerous shots from the Battlefield and the Eisenhower Farm turned out great! An afternoon at the AACA Museum in Hershey photographing antique cars left me amazed at the lens' versatility. Great detail! Leaving for the Canadian Rockies next week and can't wait to put it through it's paces there .I can see this becoming my go to lens. Very impressed! Jim

I order for an up coming car show and vacation to the beach. Got here just in time and it hasn't been off my Sony A6000 since. Took over 600 pics and it is sharp and quick. Its bigger than the kit lens and my 12mm but very comfortable. It's sharper than i expected! Having lots of fun with it!

have had a chance to use this lens about a half dozen excursions so far. i am with shooting with sony a6000. (it does make the camera appear a lot more serious) i do not run files through software, so my comments will be few. at wide open there is some noticeable bending, but from 12-18mm things look great. it is plenty fast. i shoot wide angle most of the time and this range is about perfect. my only other experience with a fancy-pants lens is the zeiss 12mm. that was great certainly, but for the savings and the little bit of flexibility, i would recommend this lens over the zeiss. AND, the bundle!! i am enjoying this very much.

It took me a while to start using this lens, thinking the 18mm wide end of my walking-around 18-200mm lens was adequate. On a recent trip to the North Cascade mountains and a vintage airshow I started using the 10-18mm wide angle lens, and using it a lot. It is small and lightweight. Mounted to my venerable NEX-6 it is a breeze to carry all day. Other than the expected angular distortion at the widest focal length and the occasional slow focusing (likely more related to the NEX-6 than the lens) it performs quite well. This is THE Sony lens recommended by Trey Ratcliff for Sony APS-C mirrorless cameras, and I now appreciate why that is.

The three pictures that I took with it looked great, but it had a very loud aperture motor when it arrived and after those three photos, it stopped focusing and the camera stopped recognising it. Sent for a warranty repair - it wasn't repairable, so a new one is being posted to me. It took over 2 weeks for it to be posted though, so I'm very unimpressed.

SuperWide!!
By JayT
As far as the E-Mount system goes, there aren't a lot of options for wide angle lenses. The SEL1018 however fixes that problem by going Super Wide. Although with a focal length of 10mm on an APS-C Sensor makes it actually 15mm on a Full Frame camera, it is still wider than any other E-Mount lens out to date. The only thing that I would say needs to be improved on is the f/4. Idealy I would like it to go a little lower, like around f/2.8. The size of the lens is actually a positive trait, in t...

Excellent lens - a MUST have!!
By GregoryDIvanov
I have this lens for about 2 weeks, so I am still all excited about using it. Have had the opportunity to take landscape pictures in deserts and very narrow spaces. Overall performance - great colors, very fast focus, very little distortion, almost no "fish-eye effect", very light (lighter than same A-mount lens for Alfa cameras). Great option for ultra wide panoramic pictures, self portraits (using go-pro poles), portraits and action photos!! A must have for NEX5n and NEX7!! The only bad thi...

Sony 10-18mm f/4 Wide-Angle Zoom Lens
The SEL-1018 super wide-angle zoom lens is perfect for taking photos of sweeping landscapes and producing striking images with emphasized perspective. If you're seeking a wider minimum focal length than offered by standard wide-angle zoom lenses, the SEL-1018 is the ideal choice for you. Featuring a minimum focal length of only 10mm (15mm in 35mm camera equivalency), the SEL-1018 wide-angle zoom lens delivers highly-detailed, super wide-angle photos. With a constant maximum aperture of f/4 through the entire focal length range, you'll be able to use the widest aperture at every focal length.
10-18 mm super wide-angle zoom lens
The SEL-1018 offers a constant maximum aperture of F4 through the entire focal length range, enabling use of the widest aperture at every focal length. Even in low-light environments, such as outdoors at sunset, users will be able to take advantage of the bright aperture and use fast shutter speeds without unnecessarily raising ISO sensitivity.
Superb image capturing capability
Three Aspherical lens elements correct for spherical aberration and distortion, making it possible to shoot high-contrast, high-quality images with markedly less bleeding even at the maximum aperture. In addition, the optical system employs Super Extra-low Dispersion glass, realizing highly detailed images with reduced color aberration even at the 10 mm focal length.
Minimum focal length of 10mm (15mm in 35mm eq.)
Thanks to a minimum focal length of only 10 mm (15 mm in 35 mm-camera equivalency), the SEL-1018 delivers finely detailed, super wide-angle photos, ideal for shooting majestic landscapes that can only be captured with super wide-angle lenses, as well as for producing striking photos with emphasized perspective.
Built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilization
The built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilization system provides a 4-stop (approx.) shutter speed advantage, making it significantly easier to achieve crisp, blur-free images and video.
Internal Focusing System
Lens elements at the rear of the optical system move, allowing rapid auto-focus response.
Circular Aperture
In low-light shots or nightscapes, out-of-focus light sources have a pleasing circular defocused effect.
