I have done professional photography for almost 50 years and I have never had a camera this complicated to use. it also took almost a year...two attempts to get one....for it to finally arrive. what i got it for should have fit the project perfectly but takes too much time once I tried to figure out how to navigate to get the shot I wanted. I also find the manuel missing a lot of critical information on how to operate. for instance, could not find how to adjust ISO but finally realized it was adjustable on the touch screen......do not like touch screen operation cause did not alway work. the camera was recommended to me but I would not recommend it

Battery dies soooo fast, I love the camera, but when using it, and turning it off, battery loses complete power. To save battery, I have to remove battery and then reinsert it.

This camera was a major step up for my wife. She loves taking pictures but does not like all of the fuss over settings etc. of a "big camera". She has been using a Nikon L32 with great success, except for the zoom aspect.. After much discussion we agreed a change was necessary and settled on the A1000. The camera is compact, will fit easily into her purse, has a great variety of settings, has a great zoom and is easy to use. Great photos. Glad we made the upgrade.

I have used the camera extensively and love it. I own 3 Nikon SLRs but wanted a small "fun" camera and one I could easily carry with me when riding my bike. This fits the bill. I'm quite satisfied with the pictures. My only disappointment was with the Corel software that came as part of the package. It's not the latest version and it doesn't open images taken with this camera. You have to upgrade to the latest version to get software that's compatible with this camera.

The Nikon A1000 is proving to exceed my expectations. It uses batteries and SDHC card storage I already had, but adds on the longer zoom than my prior Nikon and has the choice of back screen or eye level focusing. Image quality meets all my needs, so this is a real winner.

I'm very pleased with the camera. I was looking for a compact "fun" camera that had an electronic viewfinder and fairly decent zoom range. This one fit the bill. I've shot a couple of hundred pictures and am pleased with the overall quality. My only complaint is not with the camera, but with the package. The software that come with it will not open raw files taken with this camera. Which, of course, makes the software pretty useless. I realize the things in the package are essentially free because the package price is the same as the price for the camera alone, but really, if you are going to package items for promotional purposes they ought to work with the camera.

Nikon A1000 is a small pocket camera with a great zoom range. Electronic View Finder is great if you normally use a DSLR. Many ways to customize the settings. Pro Optic lens cleaning kit is well equipped and comes in a nice case. SD Card allows for fast video operation. Camera case is much larger than camera, could fit 2 cameras in the case. This defeats the small pocket size camera. A better case is the Case Logic DCB313 which still allows for 4 extra batteries and a memory card.

I like the quality of the photos. I use it like film camera. I don't need all the electronics on my camera. I use my Mac for editing.

The price at $400 is a bit steep for my budget. I would highly consider this camera at $250 especially since it's a point and shoot type camera. The one really nice thing it has going for it is a view finder which is missing from most budget point and shoot camera now a days. Bright sunlight will wash out the LCD Screen making the shot a guess. There are some accessories that you can put over the LCD Screen so you can shoot in bright sunlight, however, now you you have to carry extra accessories with you and I'm one for traveling light as possible. Overall, if Nikon were to drop the price I would highly consider the purchase. For the same price you can get a D3500 DSLR camera and with a little bit more money get some halfway decent lenses for it too. I also owned a D3500 and it does take phenomenal pictures too.

I bought the Nikon A1000 in Dec 2018 based on the published reviews to replace my Panasonic DMC-ZS60 which had trouble providing sharp focus across the images. Initially, the A1000 did that and then some. Images were quite a bit sharper than the ZS60 it replaces. It is not a D750/850, but then, it is not meant to be; try to stick one of those in your pocket!. However, it did suffer quite a bit from hesitating when settings were changed and when using the RAW setting, especially when shooting sequences. I was advised by Nikon that they were working on a firmware update that should address the issues I reported. After installing the new firmware, it appears that firmware Version 1.1 addresses these issues.

Once again, Nikon cameras has done it! I have a wonderful DLSR that I use close to home and just wanted a lighter camera for travel. Looking forward to taking this smaller compact camera that takes great photos on future trip.

I wanted a Point and Shoot Camera that has a view finder. I normally use a Nikon DSLR. I love the way this one switches from the monitor to the electronic view finder when you put it near your face. You just have to watch that you do not get a finger near the sensor when looking at the monitor or it will switch to the view finder. The Zoom is great and the image stabilization of the camera is also great. I like it due to the that it uses the same battery and charger as an older Nikon point and shoot that I use. I like the fast turn on and focus ability of this camera. It is very easy to switch from taking pictures to taking videos. I like the ability to be able to set the camera to take 4x6 pictures. It can mimic a lot of my DSLR functions. Now I have the ability to carry a mall camera and to get similar quality and functions of a DSLR. It is very easy to set up and to change scene modes. For the money, I do not think this camera can be beat by any other small point and shoot camera. Since I have just received this camera I have not had the time to full investigate and use all its capabilities. It will do anything that I need to do with a point and shoot camera. It pretty much has the capabilities of a DSLR for everyday photo shooting.

Nikon’s sleek new compact camera, the Coolpix A1000, comes with a high-resolution 16MP 1/2.3" BSI CMOS sensor for an ISO sensitivity of 100 to 6400. This gives the camera the ability to render high-quality images even while shooting under low-light conditions, as well as a 10fps continuous shooting rate. The compact body includes the NIKKOR 35x optical zoom lens for a 24-840mm equivalent focal length range, which can be doubled to a total of 70x zoom magnification using the Dynamic Fine Zoom. It also incorporates a Lens-shift Vibration Reduction system to reduce camera shake for handheld shooting. This small camera supports 30p UHD 4K video recording and up to 60p for Full HD recording. The A1000 has built-in Wi-Fi and is compatible with Nikon's SnapBridge 2.5 app to connect and instantly transfer photos to your smartphone or tablet for easy photo sharing, editing, and remote camera control. The Coolpix A1000 houses the high-end specifications of Nikon in a small, ergonomic body, making it ideal for on-the-go and everyday shooting.
Packed inside this sleek, high-end design is a super telephoto NIKKOR zoom lens and serious photo and video power: versatile low-light capabilities, rock-steady image and video stabilization, 4K Ultra HD recording, P/S/A/M control, RAW shooting, creative modes and filters, a tilting touchscreen and even an ultra-sharp electronic viewfinder for composing like a pro. It connects to the SnapBridge 2.5 app for instant sharing and remote control, and it handles like a dream. For those who want an all-in-one camera that can do it all, the COOLPIX A1000 delivers.
A backside-illuminated image sensor gathers maximum light, so you can take sharper photos in dark situations. That performance is enhanced by a wide ISO range—from ISO 100 to 6400—and its high-performance NIKKOR lens. Capture high-quality images with the optimal balance between high resolution and less noise at high sensitivities, even in dimly lit environments. In addition, the VR (Vibration Reduction) function that provides an effect equivalent to a shutter speed 3.0 stops faster (based on CIPA Standards) contributes to reproducing sharp, crisp images even without a tripod.
Nikon's Active D-Lighting brings out the details in highlights and shadows, which can often be lost. It's particularly effective when shooting heavily backlit subjects or in situations with direct sunlight. Images can be captured just the way you see them, and video footage can be utilized with no further color grading.
Select from five preset Creative Modes and check out how they look with four different effects applied. You have a choice of 20 image options in total. A great way to capture dramatic nightscapes is with the Multiple Exposure Lighten function, which compares multiple images taken using interval timer photography then automatically composites the brightest parts to express light paths. The command dial lets you quickly access four exposure modes (P/S/A/M) and other manual settings for personal control that full auto cannot provide.
The simple yet sophisticated exterior design helps embody the essence of a high-end Nikon camera. Clear, bold shapes unite to project an overall impression of high quality and superior functions, including a new grip designed to comfortably fit in the hands. Metallic materials are employed for the front of the lens barrel and side of the body, resulting in a camera you’ll be proud to show off to your friends.
Install Nikon's SnapBridge 2.5 app on a compatible smartphone or tablet and unlock exciting new capabilities with the COOLPIX A1000. Built-in Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) maintain a constant connection between the app and your camera, so each shot you take automatically transfers to your smartphone or tablet for sharing, editing with photo apps or uploading to your favorite sites. You can even use the SnapBridge app to control your camera remotely.
