If I could I would have give 0 stars. Complete waist of money, and wasnt cheap. I would not had accepted even for free this camera. Awaful pictures, I have it for 4-5 of years now. I am using EVERYsingle setting just to take one single normal picture for the same spot and still rubbish. either yellow or burned, really poor quality. Such a shame for Nikon. I wander, have they even try to take couple of shots before they release it in the market?

The camera is very basic, no editing features. The battery dies very quickly, and it's a waste of money.

I have had mine for a couple years now. I have only had one problem and it was the battery exhaustion thing. A fix was sent out for it though and all you had to do was download the fix to your camera. It was simple and fixed the problem. Takes great pics. Portable. Reliable. I have gotten close up spots shots of humming birds and the camera took a pic which caught their wings in motion, clear as can be. If you have issues with pictures not coming out right, don't be so quick to always blame the camera! Each of the pictures posted were either from a distance or zoomed in (some taken through glass window)

my coolpix l100 is about 1 1/2 years old now and i have never had a problem with it untill recently. it told me my batteries were exausted so i tryed to replace them. it still said that. so i replaced my batteries 2 more times. it didnt work. so i looked how to fix it and found out that happens to most of them. its a defect in this camera series. im having to set my camera out with no batteries for a week to try again to see if it fixed it. so before this day i would say it was a great camera and i love it to death. now all i can say is i hope it works gain because i cant afford to buy another... /:

We had a 35mm Nikon that took great pictures for many years. We purchased the Nikon L100 camera in Dec 2009 for the 15x zoom to replace our 3x digital camera (not a Nikon). We took about 500 photos from Christmas 2009 until an October 2011 vacation, when the camera stopped working. The technicians at Nikon determined that the motherboard failed. Because it would cost more than half of the original price of the camera to repair it, we are shopping for a replacement. Thank goodness our old digital camera, which has taken more than 5000 photos, is still working. The quality and dependability of this Nikon has been very disappointing.

I asked for this for my birthday back in May, and this has been a GREAT birthday present! I've always loved to take pictures, but never had a nice enough camera to truly capture what I wanted to. There are very few instances with this camera where I'm unable to capture something, so I've been very pleased with it. It's also easy to use! I get frustrated if there's too much to sit and figure out, but with this camera I can just turn it on, change it to whatever mode I need it to, and shoot! My subjects don't have to get impatient waiting for me to figure out what to do with the camera to take the shot. I've always had a photobug itch, and this camera has finally scratched it!

First of all, I love this camera. I've owned it now for a year and a half. This is my first nikon product, before I had a little Poloroid digital camera, but it broke so I got this camera as a replacement and it has done much more than just replace my old camera. The pictures it produces are beautiful and very large. My favorite specs are the 15X zoom, the close up mode, sports continuous mode (takes up to 13 pictures a second), and the design. The design makes me feel like a professional photographer, I often get asked if I'm in a photography club at my school because of it. A perfect fit in your hands. The pop-up flash is a nice feature too, if you don't want flash, just leave it down and it won't go off. The zoom on this camera is amazing, much much better than and of the popular digital cameras. It STILL amazes me even though I've owned this camera for a while. Since it's digital zoom, you aren't risking clearity of the pictures at all. The Sports Continuous mode is really fun. I've always wanted to make a flip book with it, but I haven't yet. Fun things like jumping into a pool or off of a swing look really cool when showed frame after frame. I haven't timed it yet, but I would estimate that this mode only lasts a couple seconds at a time, and after your done the camera takes up to 10 seconds to finsh before you can take any more pics. I do notice a slight difference in clearity in this mode, but it's nothing too major. I take all of my normal pictures in closeup mode because it seems to focus the best. In this mode, you still have the ability to zoom all the way and you can take normal pictures too, it's not only for close things. Sometimes it takes a second to focus, but it's always worth it. I get some beautiful pictures of birds in my bird bath for example, or really clear pictures of something up close, like a small coin. The only annoyance in this mode is that when you first select the mode, it automatically zooms in a little bit and you don't always need it zoomed in. It zooms in to where the zoom bar at the top has a mark at, where it's green. I assume it takes the best pictures in that degree of zoom, but I'm not sure. When you push the button half way to take a picture, if it shows gree you know your picture will come out great. When it's red, I'd give it a couple more seconds to focus again The only major downsides to this camera are that it takes 4 AA batteries and you can't use rechargeable according to the booklet. I would reccomend buying batteries in bulk, especially if you use your camera alot I know I've typed a lot, but it's only because I love this camera so much. Worth every penny you pay. If you've made it this far, congratulations. P.S. I would upload so many more pictures if I could, I feel these are good examples of the camera's features

I was very excited to get this new camera. I wanted an upgrade and being very big in taking pictures this was an anticipated purchase. However, after taking pictures with this camera for a few months now I have to say that I am very disappointed with the speed of battery use this camera takes. I have tried all varieties of batteries and after I take between 4-10 pictures I get the low battery signal. I usually buy Cannon or Sony but I thought I would give Nikon a try this time. I must say for someone who only takes a few pictures now and then it would be a good camera for you, if you take pictures like I do (2000-4000/3 months) you may want to look elsewhere, this would not be the camera for you.

This is a great vacation camera. It is reliable and takes super crisp shots. I have recorded some very fond memories of my trip to Hawaii. It is really a no think camera and rugged. It went horseback riding in the old sugar plantation trails in Hawaii. It handed the bumps and bounces of the horse and rider very well. I am glad I took this camera.

I am very happy with the performance of this camera. Takes beautiful, high quality shots and is easy to use. Great resolution, awesome stock lens, flash works great indoors and outdoors, good video/audio quality. The only negative thing I have to say is, occasionally the L100 will have difficulty aquiring good focus on target, especially under low-light conditions.

After a year with this camera I'm ready for somthing better. To many yellow tinted indoor pictures.does'nt recognize rechargable batteries once there charged, you have put in 2 standard batteries to kick start .very annoying.you can buy smaller dig. cameras that take better pictures and lessbulky.

I got this camera two years ago and I loved it. It is a really good camera for outdoor photos but when you get to the indoor photos they turn out with a yellow tinting that has to be edited out later on. The camera itself is very easy to use and has very straight forward settings. I was happy with the simplicity of the camera but I was very disappointed with the quality of the images. When I took outdoor photos the images were very sharp and high quality. Once you go outside when it is cloudy or stay indoors the images are very blurry and does not produce the quality that you get outside. For the first year of having this camera I was just taking pictures when I was bored or when something important was going on. Lately I have been taking a lot of photos as a hobby and I am really not pleased with this camera. Another problem I have encountered is that the auto-focus is not very helpful. Whenever I try to take a close up picture I end up having to focus it about 7 times before getting a decent focus. The cons outweigh the pros.

I have had this camera for more then a year now and ever since I have had it, it has been such a hassle. It only takes good pictures when it wants to. It has really bad focus. The battery runs out quick and i constantly have to buy new batteries for it. The quality is poor expecally for videos. It's just overall a really bad camera and you should not buy this if you want a professional camera.

I have been a solid Nikon fan for almost 3 decades. I have had many of your great brand names and was a huge fan of the coolpix series cameras. Sadly I purchased this L100 from an authorised dealer and find it constantly takes blurry photographs. The low light (indoor) photos are generally yellowed and no setting seems to correct this. I have serious brand loyalty to Nikon and will continue to purchase their products, even though this particular one was a let-down. PRO: Great battery life with Lithium batteries Compact 67mm filter lens compatible Lightweight Professional Looking CONS: Poor grainy indoor photos consistently blurry photos in all settings

I received this camera as a gift last year for Christmas, and have started my own photography career using the L100. I have had my ups and downs with it, but every time I get frustrated with something I read through the user guide and figure out the only reason I thought my camera was malfunctioning was because of something I was doing. This is a wonderful camera for beginners!

This camera takes great pictures with many features. I love this camera, up until the battery cover broke! A clip in the door broke off. It was a defect but because my camera had a smudge of drywall on it they denied my warranty, saying I damaged it. I'm a mother of 3 kids I don't use my camera in a professional job so Yes my camera is going to get banged up a little bit, but it has NEVER been dropped. I'm so upset with Nikon about this. They know that they battery doors on this camera have issues yet they do not even try to fix it. Google Nikon Coolpix L100 battery and you'll see what I mean. I am buying the part (new battery door) for $50.66 (in case anyone is wondering it's part number 636-122-5984 plenty in stock!) Then I'm going to use it until it dies, after that I am staying away from Nikon. So I say save your money for a different brand because if your camera breaks then you might as well trash it!!

Afret taking the shots by L100, you have to believe that, there is a photographer inside you. Great resolution, great value for money, great zooming capasity like Tele. This is a great guide to the way of Professional Photography. But if Nikon provided the option to do the all manual settings like F/L, Aperture, then I'll be a "All Time Favourite". In One Line " It is a Great Memory Stopper"...

I am a younger photographer but I have my own company. This camera was my first real SLR camera. This has good quality pictures but my least favorite part of this camera is the cap because it doesn't connect. This camera is very light and has all the different colors such as black and white, sepia, and all those. I would suggest this for parents that don't want to buy their children very expensive cameras but want a good quality camera. The other problem with this camera is that you have to use AA batterys which don't last very long.

I love my Nikon L100. I shoot from Mountain Landscapes to the moon to bugs that are a portion of an inch long. I have even used it in shoots and sold the pictures. The only disadvantage of this camera is, it is not good in low light situations. The colors come out bad and the shutter slows dramatically. Otherwise this is a great camera! I rolled over 10,000 pictures and decided to upgrade to a D-SLR. But I always have my L100 with me.

I've owned this camera for about 10 months now. When I first went shopping I was too afraid of cameras with too many manual settings and definitely did not want to dish out the money for a DSLR. Here's some of my pros cons with the camera after about two thousand photos Pro: * Close-up mode is amazing. It's been fun snapping photos of ants, flowers and other bugs * Ability to take standard AA batteries is huge plus. While on a trip to Japan my camera was the last one standing since I was able to walk into a convenience store and "recharge" the camera with a fresh set of Duracells * Handles shades of blue, white, yellow, green, purple almost perfectly. Medicore: * Nighttime photography. The lack of manual ISO modes can make for unpredictable results. Sometimes the night shots look great.. other times they're too grainy. * Outdoor scenes and closeup shots with lots of red colors - the color shades have a tendancy to get lost or look over-exposed. Exposure compensation and some reading are needed to get these right with this camera Things that look broken/annoying at first but have workaround: * The default white balance setting is "Auto" when you first buy the camera. "Auto" white balance is TERRIBLE - so bad I thought my camera was broken when I bought it. After tinkering with the other White Balance settings I discovered the camera can handle various lighting environments very well (Just stay away from "Auto") * "Food Mode" has some advanced color settings that can help you get the shot you're looking for when the other modes aren't cutting it (Why Nikon didn't make these color settings available in all the other modes is beyond me) Hope that's helpful. Attached photos are completely unmodified.

For an inexpensive little camera the Coolpix L100 is a great buy. I have found it has many features that only expensive camera's have. The 15X zoom is amazing. I find it hard to take a bad picture with this camera. I am really impresses with all the features and quality of the pictures it produces. Check out the picture I took of the full moon using the digital zoom. Looks like it was taken through a telescope!

I didn't think I was quite ready for a SLR camera, so I chose the best coolpix camera I found. After using it for a little under a year, I realize I should have done more research on the camera before I chose it. The picture quality isn't as great as I imagined, especially at night. The camera does not allow you to change any setting past picking what mode you want to be in. Nikon made this camera sound really amazing, yet I am disappointed. I like my camera, but not as much as I think I would like the D90.

This is by far the best camera I've ever owned. Had an Olympus and Kodak. Nothing compares! I was amazed at how it takes pics in complete darkness! I've photographed my kids asleep and had great results. At first I was not too happy in the beginning because my pics were red and yellow tinted. Well I later noticed that I had not raised the flash!!! So for those who are disappointed because of their pics tinted, raise the flash at the top of the camera.

We bought this camera 9 months ago shortly before the birth of our second child. Although the camera offers many features we have struggled to get the high quality photos we were hoping for. Indoors our photos are noisy and often blurry. Often the color is off as well-appearing reddish or orange. We have had good luck outdoors in full sun. This is not the best camera for taking pictures of wiggly children. Sadly-I wish for my old 2004 Kodak digital. I have read the manual, taken online tutorials and still struggle with this camera. Plan to purchase something else soon.

I absolutely hated this. It takes yellow-tinted pictures, and I've tried almost every lighting. There's no difference between any of the settings, and the video is sketchy. It was pretty cheap, but I was so disappointed. I wish I had gotten a olympic pen camera.

This is a great camera I have it for the past year, it had a slight problem but NIKON fixed the problem very fast and free under warranty, only charge was for the shipping and handling when sending the camera. After that the camera works without a problem, in about a month I take between 100 and 200 pictures very great camera. Focusing is great, macro function helps with close objects. It is a great camera for taking nature pictures, having a tripod with this camera is a great tool. Get at least 4GB sd card for this camera because of the amazing shots you will be able to take. It is also a great camera for the beginer photopgrapher.

Well, the camera itself takes pretty decent photos, but unfortunately, like most digital cameras, just a simple point and shoot will only give an OK photo, but nothing excellent- the subject may be blurred, the camera focused on the wrong object, etc. I have also noticed that indoors the quality is quite poor if not using a flash, but I don't like using the flash indoors all the time because it either ruins the composition or else the photo turns out with almost a green hue. The problem with not using flash on indoor shots is that you may take a perfectly composed photo, however, without flash, the noise is terrible! Adjusting the exposure may help a little with this, but then you lose the affect you were trying to get. Also, like lots of new digital cameras (excluding dslr) the camera pretty much decides everything for you, leaving you with less freedom of options- ie, you cannot select the shutter speed, indoor night setting takes so long to flash you may loose the moment, etc. With all that being said, I have probably taken more photos with this camera that leave me frustrated than not. On the flip side, however, the ones that miraculously do turn out right, turn out AMAZING. I have already gotten several awesome pics of the moon with it, even without a tripod. Also got some great still life in the macro mode (as long as I'm outside! lol) So yea, in the end, it's a pretty decent camera but if I had the option of choosing (I had gotten this as a gift) I would have picked something else.

I don't hate the camera but when you try to take up close pictures using the "close-up" options half of the time they blur. Same with the zoom no matter which setting you have it on. Also, if you can't use the flash and are indoors the picture turns out grainy! I bought the camera because I needed and upgrade from my Cannon that I had for years. Sometimes I think the Cannon took better pictures. I think it is a great camera for the price you pay but if you can afford it buy a more upscale one. I plan on upgrading again soon.

Ever since I got this camera last year for father's day I don't go anywhere without it - it is easy to use, takes excellent photos and comes in handy when going camping, for graduations and for taking lots of pictures of our husky Starr. The only drawback is that you need to time your shots just right, pressing down on the shutter button a second before you want to take the picture is the trick. Otherwise I love it!
