I did a lot of research on light meters prior to making this purchase. This meter is everything that is was made out to be, and is certainly helping me to take my photography skills to a higher level. I wouldn't think of going on a photography shoot without it.

Finally got a light meter!! I got this one used because I'm on a very tight budget. Great condition, no issues so far. Haven't gotten to use it much, but am confident it will last.

First, let me say, after trying to convince myself that I needed this at the cost of this thing, I decided to buy it. Boy am I happy I did, I read all the reviews I could on it, even some negative ones. It takes a while to figure out how to use it the manual is big and the utube videos are out there. But it took me all day to do my first profile because some of the critical steps you can miss. It is really nice to walk up to your shot and take a reading and know you can trust what it tells you. Once you do this a couple of times you say oh ya, it was worth it. You can set up more than one camera which is really nice. This will take me a couple of months to figure out all the things you can do. In my opinion it was well worth it.

Like many photographers, I pondered which light meter to purchase. But after checking into the 758, a light opened (in my mind), and I walked therein. I watched countless video commentaries and reviews about this great find! I thought that I was a good photographer, but after purhasing my 758, I know now that my photography is better. My light readings are very consistent and aren't fouled like my camera's metering system. This meter is a must have for all that are serious about photography! Peace and Happiness...

This was the recommended light meter when I started at Brooks Institute last year. I didn't know a whole lot about professional photography at the time, so I went ahead and bought it. Now that I've been using it, I am not really sure that I need such a high-quality product. There are a lot of features that I rarely use. Ultimately, my review is that if you are a pro or an aspiring pro...this a well made product with a lot of functionality that will last you for years. If you are a hobbyist or a someone who doesn't do much studio work...you probably could find something less expensive and get the job done.

I think this meter is pretty useless for me. Don't get me wrong, it is a great meter. I just never find myself using it since i know my setting what i want on the lighting. I think it just look cool for client who like to watch you meter your model subject looking like a pro. To be honest, i never seem to need it or use it. I think is mainly for beginners if you don't know how to spot or meter your lighting equipments in multiple set up. Again, it is the best meter in the market that for sure. I only recommend this to a friend if they are a beginner.

This product has a bit of a learning curve if you are a first time light meter user, but it has a handy quick guide which gets you through the basics. I got this over the cheaper models so I would have the spot. I don't use the spot often, but it is nice to have when I want to use it. I've had it a year, and I am still using the battery that came with it.

Takes the guess work out of getting proper exposure, giving you more flexability in your photography. Camera profiling via operating manual is a little difficult but I am still learning the many things available on this meter and its functions.

I researched this meter more than any other meter on the web and found out there is no better meter on the market period!!. I hesitated about the price like everyone else, but when you want the best then at some point you have to bite the bullet. Now lets talk about the meter it self it feels good, works great, and is very accurate, remember there are other meters out there that are good also that are made by Sekonic and I own one of them. But I new I wouldn't be satisfied until I own the best. If you can afford it and I know money is tight with everyone you will not out-grow this meter and the time you will save from knocking your head agaist the wall trying to guess the right exposures the meter will pay for itself.

Using this will help you get all your exposure right and after a while you will not need to use it unless its a tricky lighting. Well worth the money.

I also own an L358, which I originally intended to sell but I see the value of having two meters. I wanted the L758 for its built-in spot metering capability which is a clumsy add-on for the 358. I use this meter on every shoot. I'm just getting into HDR and the spot meter function is indispensable. Having read the info on the camera profiling feature, I plan on using that as well.

I carry a forty year old Sekonic L28c2, and my primary L758DR which has spot metering, a highly essential tool for a variety of situations, such as back-light, harsh reflections, and through glass. From my decades of experience in film and digital, it's a forgone conclusion the camera's meter cannot guarantee a proper exposure EVERY time. However, a hand-held meter is not infallible, but I firmly believe it will provide a consistent and accurate reading in the long-run. If you're totally committed to photography, this would be a better investment than spending $600 on a new lens. Adorama has a wide selection of meters to choose from in a price range you can afford.

I really like the quality and the overall use of the device. It nails lighting situations every time, especially the tricky shots with high contrast and subtle fabrics (like in a wedding dress) . My only 'con' would be that some buttons are to close to the optical system of the spot meter. Impacting the handling some what. jerry

Great product by sekonic. Quite easy to use though instructions are very poor on the users manual. The DR comes with a PW built in so you'd better have some on your bag otherwise not all the RT are compatible with it. I have Yongnuo latest release and they don't sync at all so my next purchase is definetely a few PWs's.

Used in studio / on location to accurately measure exposure. Controls are well positioned. Documentation is reasonably good. Unit is well made. Instructions for sensor profiling could be better. Version 2 software and profile target II are much better than version 1 counterparts. Use the custom setting when creating the profile to use flash exclusively. Learned the hard way that multi-flash setting does not filter for CLS iTTL pre-flash. Works with SB-800 set in SU-4 built-in strobe on D300 set to manual mode just fine though. Note that SB-600s do not have SU-4 mode.

Sekonic always produces top of the line equipment.The price is the same, but you get what you pay for. The unit can not reach it's advertised potential with out the target. No mention that the unit is only an ordinary light meter with it. An additional $100.00 to acquire a cardboard plastic sheet is a bit much. I feel I have been ripped off.

Super meter and especially unique in its ability to be calibrated against your camera's sensor. The instructions for calibration are not as clear as could be although a video on Sekonic's web site is now available.
