I've been comparing for long time with other similar caractheristics cameras and I think this one is the best choice. Is the only camera who has this LCD to take pictures in any position you are. You can turn it in any direction.

I'm still getting used to using the S5 but I'm loving it. There are few complaints about this camera. The only thing the would make it better is it were an SLR. I would suggest not applying the protective film on the LCD screen its harder to apply than you might think and not immune to imperfections.

Meyer at Adorama made my buying experience very pleasant, and I am very happy with this camera. I received it the day of the recent lunar eclipse (a day earlier than expected). I got some great shots of the moon using Manual mode and a tripod. My zoom shots weren't as good, but I think that was due to my inexperience with shutter speeds and f-stops (both of which you can set manually). I can't wait to try it for the next solar eclipse. I have also taken pictures of my family and they have turned out really well. One other plus for me: I am able to retrieve the pictures off the camera using Ubuntu and the provided USB cable. I was afraid I would have to use the software that came with the camera, but not so.

I have used this camera for studio portraits, night time scenes, general candid snapping and have been very happy with the results. I wish I could dial in Kelvin for the white balance but at this price and type of camera one can't have everything. It is a real fun camera to use. Super quick start up and fast. More than highly recommended! A great camera and that hot shoe is a real bonus as I like bounce flash.

I purchased this camera prior to a two week (Cruise Tour) trip to Alaska. The ease of use coupled with the great zoom range made this camera a true joy. From aerial pictures in a helicopter to landscape and wildlife shots this camera was superb! The variangle LCD screen afforded protection when needed and was a big help when shooting over the heads of people.

This camera should be the one to move-up to from the Pro 1. Canon got stupid when they moved away from RAW image capture, the compact flash storage media and the BP-511 battery. Other than that it is an almost great camera. The other irritant is that the auto focus/shutter release delay is just too long.
