I picked this up way back when I picked up my 1st Nikon, the D90 and it worked great! I eventually upgraded to a D7100 and it works with it also! I finally added a full frame D810 to my arsenal and JOY! It works with it as well!! I shoot a lot of tethered studio work and this allows me to worry about one less thing.....batteries!!! Great piece of kit for my style of shooting as well as long exposure, astrophotography, etc.

The combo of EH-5b and EP-5b work great in both the D500 camera battery slot and the external battery pack MB-D17. I had not noticed the flexible battery compartment exit cover on the D500 until I got the EP-5b. Both exit covers leave a small opening around the EP-5b cable when installed. The cord from the wall to the EH-5b transformer is about 70” long and from the transformer to the EP-5b is about 60” long. I am still learning the D500 and using the menus a lot. Looking at menus uses up battery power quickly. I will also be practicing a lot with the video on the D500 which also uses up battery power quickly. So far I have just used the EP-5b installed in the MB-D17, and that has worked well for me. OBTW when the EP-5b is installed in the MB-D17, nothing shows up as installed in MB-D17 on the Battery Info menu screen.

I have find this very usefull when I'm studing the setup options and or setting up the camera options as well as when I'm watching the photos in my LCD screen directly from the camera. I also use it for tripod studio photography my D750 is a hug with the batteries they don't last; but, with this option I don't have to worry anymore! Don't forget to include the EP-5B Connector.

I use my Nikon D7100 to record video of our local City Council for the public to review. Before I purchased the EH-5B power supply, I was changing batteries at the most inopportune times. This created a backlash from one of the council member who accused me of editing the video during one of his remarks. It was nothing more than a simple change of batteries that led to this situation but caused great uproar in the following meeting which I recorded. Once I began using the EH-5B with the correct connector, I had no need to change batteries and now, I can post uninterrupted videos of the council meetings.
