I bought this lens together with the Sony A6400. I like the wide aperture of f1.8 as compared to the kit lens. It works well as it is like a 50mm. Very good for portrait but for landscape, perhaps 18mm or 20mm would be better for a APSC camera.

Fast and Light lens

Bought this lens at a discount. Good to use with good focal length and brightness. Useful and practical for my purpose with OSS. The images are sharp and clear given the price of this lens.

Excellent 35mm Prime Lens

Very nice lens for taking portraits (even in low light) on cropped sensor camera.  But may not be best travel lens as subject comes in tight with little background on display.

I have the Sony A6000, I purchased this with the kit lens, I then purchased the Sony18-135, but wanted a prime lens, after watching all the reviews on YouTube, I settled on the 35mm 1.8 lens, and have not regretted it whatsoever, I take the camera with me whilst walking, and have taken some fantastic photos, plus I keep it in the front of my coat, to protect it from cold, and the size is very handy as well, love it.

Lens is best bang for the buck for a nice upgrade to the a6400 kit lens. Mostly shooting portraits. 

The lens kit that Adorama includes is top notch. Really nice quality brands. Other companies include cheap stuff you just throw away, but I'm using everything that came with it.

The lens function well as claimed with beautiful bokeh. A little pricey compared to other 35mm lens but build quality is good & has optical stabilization.

Sony Lens Review

The Sony E 35mm F1.8 OSS lens offers a bright aperture and standard angle of view for capturing sharp images with a shallow depth of field.

little and lightweight quick focus and great photo

For its diminutive size it is an excellent f/1.8 prime. We use this to take quick autofocus shots and works well outdoors with CPL or ND8 wide open. But when Sony autofocus gets confused or we want critical subject focus we switch to full manual focus. OSS helps in low light to drop ISO and to stabilize videos.

Did compare image quality directly to our Nikon 50mm f/1.4 on Nikon FX body and the tiny 35mm f/1.8 held its own. Definitely would recommend this lens for Sony DX.

But to get truly beautiful images put on Nikon FX glass and manually focus. We use the Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 for standard portraits and 85mm f/1.4 for mega bokeh portraits. With these specific FX focal lengths on DX - the images pop.
