I have a Nikon DSLR that I love, but with the large lens it is very heavy. This camera is perfect for those occasions when I want a great shot but without the bulk of my other camera. I have an older Panasonic Lumix that is still in use. So far the FZ 70 is everything I hoped for. The 60x digital zoom is without distortion. I'm looking forward to using the movie feature. Still learn about this great camera. So far, very pleased.

I got this camera as a gift for my wife. She loves taking photos where ever she goes. She usually carries a lot of equiptment so I got her this to lighten her load. The camera is great for the average person looking to take great looking pictures. Not everyone is a professional. The photos are still above average compared to others in it's class. Oh yeah, there are no other cameras at present in this class. It has a 20mm to1200mm equivilent compared to an SLR, but it's a fraction of the weight. I highly recommend this camera to those that are not snooty about their photography and just want to enjoy themselves.

The picture quality is very good however the RW2 raw files are not recognized by Lightroom or Aperture. The SILKYPIX software that can be used to open the raw files leaves much to be desired. The only other options are to either shoot in JPG or open the files in Photoshop and convert them to TIF's. The instruction manual appears to have been written by a person who is not all that familiar with English but with diligence you can understand it. This camera would be good for a Realtor in that the aspect ratio can be changed to accommodate different sized rooms. I will use it as a point & shoot for JPG's and for movies.

Panasonic has always excelled in long-zoom cameras that have very good image stabilization. I have been a fan of theirs for years and continue to buy their cameras. The FZ70 meets all of my expectations. The 60x optical zoom is incredible. Plus the camera is surprisingly easy to handle. I also currently own (and plan to keep) a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20, a pocket-sized camera with a 20x zoom. Great for when you want to whip a camera out of your pocket and still get a substantial zoom. I am extremely pleased with the image quality of both cameras.

Fantastic auto focus! I was photographing tiny, fast-moving birds and based on experience with other cameras, I figured the pictures would all be focused on the plant instead but I ended up with several sharp shots. When hand-held at 60x, the images are sometimes a tiny bit soft, but overall, it is amazing.

Nice looking camera, feels nice to hold. Very disappointed in the image quality! I will stay with my Nikon P510. Returned the camera. Easy and fast return to Adorama.

Spent two days at Cape May State Park with my new camera and was thrilled with the results. The 60 X lens is perfect for taking picture of wild life and the Auto focus lock allowed me to caught birds in flight

I take this camera with me everywhere, kayaking, camping, hiking, climbing. The best things about it is its ability to shoot raw and manual - and now its ability to shoot from 200-1200mm. What an awesome wildlife camera. The tradeoff for the superzoom is a bigger camera, but it is worth it.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70 Digital Camera is a bridge-style point-and-shoot digital camera that features a 16.1 megapixel High Sensitivity BSI MOS sensor and Venus Engine image processor to produce high resolution still imagery and full HD 1080i/p video with notable low-light quality. The combination of the processor and sensor enable a native sensitivity range of ISO 100-3200, which can be further expanded to ISO 6400. The processor also affords a wealth of speed to the camera, including the ability to record up to 9 fps in a 3 shot burst, 5 fps with one-shot AF or 2 fps with continuous AF.
The built-in Lumix DC Vario 60x optical zoom lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 20-1200mm, covering wide-angle to telephoto perspectives for working in almost any shooting situation. Benefitting this extensive zoom range is POWER O.I.S., which works to minimize the appearance of camera shake when working with greater zoom magnifications and under low-light conditions. This image stabilization system also features an Active Mode that is well-suited to creating steady HD movies by countering the appearance of camera shake in a variety of directions.
Full HD 1080i video at 60 fps is supported in the high quality AVCHD codec and greatly benefits from the inclusion of a Wind Shield Zoom Microphone and Dolby Digital audio quality. The built-in stereo microphone works to significantly reduce wind noise in order to provide clearer overall audio quality. Its zoom design is also well-paired to the zoom lens to help achieve natural sounding recordings.
For image monitoring and playback, both a 3.0" 460k-dot LCD monitor and a 0.20" 202k-dot electronic viewfinder are available as bright, clear means for viewing. Also extending the functionality of the FZ70 is a hot shoe to facilitate the use of an external flash and an HDMI port for linking the camera to an HDTV for vivid image playback. A host of creative effects are available too, for enhancing the aesthetic appearance of both still images and movies in-camera.
