Great red dot. But not being able to get to the lock screws without taking the whole thing off the slide along with having to do the same to get to battery.

The locking screws are in the back, which makes you either permanently remove the sight or lock for crazy alternatives to access the screws. . . just such a bad design

Bought this from Optics Planet spring 2025. this is on a Walther PPQ M2 22. Easy operate. Downsides are no "Shake Awake" but for a range gun it's no big deal. I do wish that the battery didn't fight you when installing. It's not a big deal but my RMR doesn't do that? Easy to sight in. No frills. Can't beat that warranty! Dot is crisp and makes the shooting experience so much better!!

I love vortex. I believe STRONGLY that a product that offers the warranty they do, should be in the hands of our Heroes. I purchased this optic to pit on a series of pistols for a few SOF guys coming to my farm to hunt hogs. It said RMR in the description but was actually a doctor mount set up. Was this a mix up in the description? Ron CEO Hunting With A Hero

I have this on my EDC so it by no means gets beat on at all. The glass cracked after being in my backpack and sliding off a chair, I assumed it would be a lot less fragile than that. But vortex has a great warranty program so they replaced it super fast and for free. Fast forward a year later and the optic has just completely stopped working. I thought it might have been the battery even though I have not used it enough to be dead, but even with fresh batteries it still doesn't work. Pretty disappointed with it considering I've only had it for 3 years.

I have a few Venom red dots, and other than the small battery size, they have been great. I saw a Viper on sale and decided to pick it up for my next project. I got home and noticed the box seal was broken. When I opened it, it looked like the battery cover was missing. After further inspection, it looks like because the battery mounts on the bottom (dumb) they didn't even use a battery cover. The wimpy, curvy gasket I guess is supposed to seal the compartment from moisuture and dust? This is a really poor design. I geuss I need to return it instead of dealing with the headaches down the road.

The Viper is my first reflex red dot and I am in love. The ease of use, the accuracy and price are as good as it gets. There wasn't much doubt as all the Vortex products are great and if there is any issue, customer service is second to none in the industry.

I have had my red dot for a few years with strong use. (Viper Red Dot $350 for those who care) Long story short it malfunctioned and I sent it in for service. The process was extremely smooth and the service was spectacular! I was expecting some type of headache around this but this company just earned a lifetime customer with this type of energy. Keep in mind I have 21 years of service experience and this is very important in the business I do in my personal life. 5 stars Vortex. Keep it up!

The red dot works well and fits my Canik just fine. But fine tuning with the set screws is a bad experience and if you don't make sure the locks are tight, they will either fly out or you'll consistently lose your zero after a few rounds. I put a Venom on my other weapon and it's a much better experience. For similar money, just get the Venom

I purchase the Vortex Viper red dot to ride on my Benelli M4 12 gauge. After more than 200 rounds of 00 buck and slugs, the Viper is working great - no dot shift, loosening of the mount, no issues whatsoever.

This optic came preinstalled on an FNX45. Looks cool as hell, sturdy, not bulky and easy to use. As this came preinstalled, the optic base plate that allows attachment to a weaver/picatinny was not included. I called Vortex and they provided without question, even though it not being received by the firearm provider was not their fault. They even through in a few other screws/accessories. Outstanding customer service!

My FN509 Tactical that I purchased came with the VortexViper already included. Not knowing much about optics and just being introduced I found it to be really user friendly for a beginner and accurate. The battery life could be better but that's just one con to all the pros.

I took my vortex viper out to the range in December 22, The snow was about a foot deep. My buddy was shooting with me and some how my sight came off and we didn't notice till I unpacked at home. It was dark by then and couldn't get out to the range the next day, but I did go back 2 days later. The temp range was between freezing and -15C (+10F). After kicking around the snow for about an hour I found it. It was still on and working fine. I've now locktited it in. So a couple of things learned I need to use locktited, and that Vortex makes a great product.

This is mounted on a Glock After 4-500 rounds the battery cap flew off and is not able to be screwed back on. Reading on line this is a common issue. Called customer support they are sending a new cover four days ago, but they're not sure this will fix it.

I purchased this about two years ago because at the time it was the only plate that I could get for my Canik. I really like the durability I have put this thing through that works. Quite a bit of training from the draw, and also some carbine work that really banged up the exterior but it still holds zero. My only issue is not having a auto sleep and awake. Turning it off and on STINKS. Especially if I'd ever have to use it at night for a defense encounter.

The difference between a good company and a great company is how they deal with mistakes. As a firearms instructor I use my gun and mounted Vortex Viper multiple times a week and through thousands of rounds, it takes a beating and in the year I have had this thing it has had no issues, until it did. One day on the range it stopped working, so I figured it was a battery. Replaced it, and nothing. The bugger was dead. I called Vortex, they sent me out another one no questions, no delay, and with a smile. I got the optic a week later and we're off an running again. I have many vortex products on everything from AR platforms, pistols, hunting rifles, and so on, this was my first issue and how they handled it has further solidified my fandom in this company. Thank you Vortex for making a quality product and for standing behind it so steadfastly. I gave 4 starts for one reason, this optic is tough to zero with a gun that has back up sights, you have to remove it after you zeroed it to lock the turrets. This could potentially affect your zero being it was removed and replaced after doing so. That being said, I have zeroed two of these now on the same pistol and had NO issue with my dot holding zero despite having removed and replaced the optic after doing so.

Sight died on me on factory battery, i then put a battery i had extra at home and nothing so i let it sit until i bought new batteries. Long story short the sight doesnt work at all. Never abused it or drop it, maybe 350-500 rounds with it on the canik.

My (NIB) Viper Vortex red dot came with a pistol I purchased. After installing it, I could never get the adjustment buttons to work. I called Vortex, explain the problem. They sent me a new red dot and a cool hat and a box with UPS label to send the first red dot back. The new red dot has worked flawlessly the past two years. Vortex was helpful, understanding and they stood behind their product. Great company, great service, and a great product.

I wanted to keep this dot for my nightstand piece....but after it sits there for some time and I go to pick it up I notice the dot it's not on....I don't like that I need it to be ready....other than that I haven't had any problems with it not holding zero and its very accurate at 25 yrds...

First sight bought two years ago failed within the first box of ammo. VORTEX was quick to replace with out question. Replacement sight failed this spring with less than 400 rounds of .45 auto ammo. Vortex will replace but I think its time to reinstall my iron sight. Had high hopes for this but has shown unacceptable reliability.

I?ve been running my Viper for about two years now and I find it to be a very good optic for pistol use, The dot size for me is perfect as well as the body size. I?m currently using mine on my concealed carry pistol a Glock 32. But even with all great things there is some room for improvement. If Vortex ever decides to do a 2.0 version I would love to see a few things added or changed. The first thing I want to see changed is the battery life which I think everyone can agree is kind of short, One hundred or so hours on full brightness is not a lot and would require me to change batteries frequently as well as re-zero my pistol a lot. And in the ammo crisis of 2021 that just isn?t really practical. The second thing is getting rid of the auto shut off. I know that?s there to save battery life but I wish there was a way to either get rid of it or just turn it off. The third thing I would like to see is a tactile and audible windage/elevation adjustment. As it stands right now I have to guess how far I?ve moved my point of impact over. And to add to that part the locking screws on the back to lock the windage and elevation screws in place. I like the idea of having those but I think they should be moved so if I have a rear sight I don?t have to get drilled or take the rear sight off every time I zero. Overall I think it?s a solid choice for anyone getting into the red dot game whether it be for competitive use for EDC use.

I have twins, one on a G40 I pack constantly that is fed a steady diet of heavy loads. The other lives on a Henry 45/70. Makes for fast target acquisition. I trust my life to these weapons and the optics. From 20 below zero to 100, wet, cold they keep on ticking.

Ive had this sight on my deer hunting shotgun for two years now. Had to replace the battery and it wouldn't turn on. Found out that the tab inside can bend if the battery isn't put in right and shorts out the battery. Bent the tab back and it works great again. Just be careful replacing battery. Maybe something to improve on.?.

I have purchased several Vortex scopes and one red dot for a rifle. I have been happy with all of those purchases. I recently purchased the Viper for a competition pistol, not as happy with this optic. First, the elevation and windage adjustments do not have that tactile "click" when you are trying to adjust for zero. The dials have very small incremental markings and it is almost impossible to "fine tune" with the small screwdriver without drifting to far one way or the other. Without the solid "click" like in the windage and elevation adjustments in their other products you can spend a lot of time trying to get it set just right (I have yet to get a perfect zero with it and have removed it from my pistol). Second, the on/off switch for the Viper is the down arrow which is the opposite of the SPARC which is the up arrow. I would think for consistency throughout the brand they would all have the same principle (either all using the up switch to turn on or all have the down switch to turn on). It is a nice, compact optic and I do like the size but I would not buy another one. The lens is clean and great size.

The optic works amazing and haven't had any issues running it on my Glock. Also misplaced the picatinny mount and Vortex replaced it no problem.

I have two of these sights. I bought one about a year ago, and I really liked it so I bought another one recently. The controls are easy. The only thing I have to complain about design-wise is the adjustment screws. They are super cheap. And if you use co witness sights you can’t lock them into place (the rear sight gets in the way.) My biggest problem was that they kept losing the zero. I put one on an FN 509 and it worked perfectly for a couple months, then one day randomly the dot moved and I was shooting 10-13 inches to the left. I adjusted it back no problem but a couple weeks later the same thing happened again. The dot just likes to jump around. I thought it might have been a problem with my gun, or maybe just a defective sight, but the other viper sight that I mounted on my 22 just did the same thing! Just randomly one day I am shooting way off to the side. These sights just cannot hold a zero for too long, and I cannot depend on them. Very frustrated

My favorite Red Dot. I put the Viper on my FNP 45 Tac and it's great. I ended up getting a 3 MOA Venom for my 22/45 Lite but honestly can't tell the difference in the size of the dot. Ended up going with another Viper I got my FN 509 Tac because I really prefer the Aesthetics of the Viper over the Venom and the taller window. Only drawback is the set screws on the back of it are not accessible because of the location of the rear sight on both the FN pistols. So I just set the set screws just ...

I bought a Canik TP9SFx that included a Viper red dot. I never had an optic on a handgun and was really impressed. The brightness settings are great for indoor or outdoor use and is easily adjusted. Not only does it look great on my gun but it performs amazing as well. I literally took the red dot out of the box, mounted it to gun, and hit bullseye at 50 feet with ZERO adjustment. I'm approaching the 2,000 mark for shots fired and the Viper has held up perfect so far.
The Viper Red Dot's super-low mounting height makes it the perfect solution for handguns with cutout slides. The Viper gives shooters the simplicity and speed advantage of a dot sight, while co-witnessing with suppressor height iron sights. The trade off Nothing. The 6 MOA dot diameter gets shooters on target fast. Fully multi-coated, ultra-clear lens offers a wide, unobstructed field of view. The left-side up/down power and illumination controls are easy to access and manipulate. Recessed 1 MOA windage and elevation adjustments are super clean, protected from incidental contact and always at the ready. It runs on a CR 2032 battery.
