The optics experts at Zeiss are at it again. Today they announced the Zeiss Loxia 25mm f/2.4 wide-angle lens, the latest in its lineup of premium lenses in the Sony E-mount. The new lens is said to feature a new optical design. The all-mechanical lens has manual focusing and a durable metal housing, but is said to be small enough to be inconspicuous for street photography and other candid work.

Designed specifically for use with mirrorless cameras, the Zeiss Loxia 25mm boasts high resolution across the entire image with low distortion. Thanks to its compact size, it is well-suited for travel photography. The lens has an electronic interface that transfers both lens data and focus movements to the camera and activates focus peaking or the zoom function. The focus ring has a long focus rotation of 90 degrees for greater focusing precision. The lens is suitable for both still photography and videography.
