Last week in Cupertino, California, Apple unveiled two updated iPads: the 8th-generation iPad, and new 2020 iPad Air. The 8th-generation iPad features an A12 Bionic Chip, all-day battery life. The new iPad Air has a powerful A14 Bionic Chip, upgraded cameras, and an all-screen design. Both iPads include Apple’s updated iPadOS 14 and are made with zero harmful substances.
Apple iPad 8th-Generation
Apple iPad 8th-Gen Features:
- 10.2-inch Retina display
- A12 Bionic Chip with Neural Engine
- Touch ID
- Upgraded cameras
- All-day battery life
- iPadOS 14
- More environmentally friendly
Faster performance with A12 Bionic Chip
The most affordable iPad in Apple’s selection is now equipped with an A12 Bionic Chip with Neural Engine. The new technology increases CPU performance by 40 percent and doubles the graphics capabilities. The ‘Neural Engine’ part of the processor allows for machine learning that leads to advanced photo editing, Siri functionality, and augmented reality apps.
Apple iPadOS14
The 8th-generation iPad will run Apple’s iPadOS 14, which comes out for all iPads on Wednesday. The updated operating system enhances the Apple Pencil functions and makes taking handwritten notes more natural. Users can easily add drawing and illustrations to notes, or copy and paste text like addresses, phone numbers, and names.
Notably, Apple is keeping the price of the new, 8th-generation iPad, which makes it the same cost as the previous version but with major upgrades. To contribute to environmental change, all iPads are designed with an 100-percent recycled aluminum enclosure, recycled wood fiber packaging, and zero harmful substances.
