Atomos has brought an abundance of new announcements and gear to the 2019 International Broadcasting Convention (IBC), including some of its most talked-about monitor-recording displays, as well as upgrades to existing equipment, and updates with its biggest partners.
Atomos Neon Cinema Monitor-Recording Displays:

Atomos announced the Neon series of cinema monitor-recording displays this summer, and is showcasing the lineup at IBC. The production-ready displays are available in four sizes: 17-inch, 24-inch, 31-inch, and a whopping 55-inch.
The 4K HDR field recorders give creatives ultimate control in real-time television and film productions, all managed via Bluetooth and the Atomos iOS app, including 4K recording, syncing, and playback. Users can also access focus peaking, exposure, waveform and RGB monitors, vectorscope, calibration, zoom, and LUT selection via the screens. Directors are also able to frame sync together Neons and Ninva Vs (via an AtomX Sync Module) to simplify the entire workflow.
The Neon was originally announced with 4K capture capability, but because of the Master Control Unit, was later upgraded to an 8K recorder, capable of recording and monitoring 8K at 60fps, with ProRes and ProRes RAW support.
The units also eliminate the dual offline/online process, and allow for capture, recording, editing, and grading online using ProRes RAW. They all provide up to 512 zone backlights, resulting in a contrast ratio from one to one million gradations on these 1000-nit displays. Color matching is simple and color accuracy, dynamic range, and detail are preserved, and the unit is housed in built-to-last body that can withstand your most intense production settings.
Shogun 7 Upgrade:

The Shogun 7 first debuted in April 2019, and Atomos has just made the screen better and brighter. Announced at IBC, the company is releasing a free upgrade to the Shogun 7 that will now boost it up to a super bright 3000nit display (previously 1500nit).
“Unbelievable HDR is just one of the many compelling benefits of the new Shogun 7,” Jeromy Young, Atomos co-founder and CEO, says in an announcement. “Now, thanks to a super bright 3000nit screen, we can give professional shooters, filmmakers and content creators over 15 stops of dynamic range. With 360 zones, 1,000,000:1 contrast and 105% DCI-P3 color, the on-set monitoring experience is truly a level up.”
But that’s not all. The company is also teasing the New Touch and Switch 5 Stream switching and Dolby Vision playout, both of which will be released later this month.
Panasonic Lumix S1H & 5.9K 35mm full frame ProRes RAW recording:
The highly-anticipated Panasonic Lumix S1H was announced last month, and Atomos is ready to boost its capabilities with a new update.
Atomos has also announced up to 5.9Kp30 support over HDMI from the S1H to the Ninja V, which enables ProRes RAW recording.
“We are very proud of developing new ground-breaking technology with a company of the calibre of Panasonic,” Young adds. “We are both highly committed to the democratisation of filmmaking for creators, and the ability to record ProRes RAW or ProRes RAW HQ from the S1H to a Ninja V 5.9kp30 is a major leap forward in this endeavour.”
The S1H can capture 6K, 10-bit video at 24 frames per second in 3:2, and can now be coupled with the Ninja V for a seamless workflow.
The update will be available in early 2020.
