Adorama is proud to have partnered with GuruShots for a weekly photo challenge to be featured on Adorama Learning Center. Every photo challenge will be run by award-winning photographers who provide real-time feedback as contestants submit their images. We will ask our Adorama Learning Center readers to vote and comment on their favorite photos, ranking each contestant’s progress through Popular, Skilled, Premier, Elite and All-Star levels.
Join the game and you’ll be able to share your photos to compete for prizes, all while improving your photo skills and boosting your exposure amongst your peers!
For our first challenge, we will explore using texture to enhance your black and white photography.
Photographs are little more than a record of light, shapes, and texture.
Textures often come in the form of detail and the actual object being photographed becomes of less importance.
With textures, you want to be looking for shapes and patterns to bring your image to life.
While this particular challenge will focus on black and white photography, you can watch this awesome video by Gavin Hoey on how to shoot and compose using various texture.
The contest will be run by photographer and author, Mike Hagan, and contestants will have a chance to win a $200 Adorama gift card that can be used to purchase everything for your photography and filmmaking needs- cameras, lenses, drones, tripods, lighting, accessories and more!
