Capturing the Small Details:
Being a macro lens, the ATX-I 100mm f/2.8 is ideal for magnifying the smaller things in life. Whether you’re capturing tiny still photography, miniature product shots, or bugs in the backyard, the lens is a go-to choice. It replicates the subject in a 1:1 ratio on the sensor, so what you see is what you get.
When photographing such small worlds with fine details, it’s important that resolution stays consistent across the visual field, along with zero curvature for full focus across the field. The Tokina ATX-I 100mm provides users with low falloff and low distortion to create a detailed, clean, and even image. The lens is designed with nine elements in eight groups and is multi-coated to subdue any chromatic aberrations, flares, or ghosting — useful when capturing such finely detailed images.
Although macro lenses are primarily for smaller objects, this lens can add a different perspective to landscapes, street photography, portraits, and more. The 100mm prime focal length gives users some distance when capturing landscapes and street photography, while also providing a full-frame of focus with the flat lens. While shooting portraits, a macro lens is able to capture subtle details of a subject in full focus. The high-end, f/32 aperture ensures a wide depth of focus for certain scenarios, while the low-end, f/2.8 aperture produces a dreamy bokeh on any image.
Useful AF/MF Switches on a Lightweight Body:
The new Tokina ATX-I comes in two separate models — one to fit Nikon mounts and one to fit Canon EF mounts. The build is lightweight and compact to be easily transported. A notable feature is the One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism, which allows users to switch from auto focus to manual focus with simplicity. To switch from AF to MF, users just need to “snap” the focus ring back and get the feel of a traditional manual lens. To further assist AF, a focus range limiter switch will lock the focus range to avoid AF hunting (difficulty focusing, leading to a constant scan of the field). The ATX-I includes filter threads at 55mm if you looking to add a UV filter, close-up filter, special effects filter, etc.
The new Tokina ATX-I 100mm Macro lens is available for preorder now for in Canon EF and Nikon mounts.
