The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) provide truly superior noise cancellation. Which is what I use them for. So that you can judge: I live in an apartment. Twenty feet from where my head lies on the pillow is another apartment's window air conditioner. Fifteen feet away in a different direction are the two large air conditioning condensers that power the central air for the next door duplex. On warm summer nights when my windows are open, and these units grind on and on -- the noise gets loud. Definitely too loud to sleep through. However... I sleep on my right side. In my right ear, I use a simple disposable foam earplug. That, and my pillow, and the seven inches of foam mattress below that successfully deadens the noise in my right ear. In my left ear -- the ear not on the pillow -- I use the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbud (2nd Gen). I put it in, and the noise ... all goes away. It just ... disappears. Plus, there's no feeling of ear canal fullness/earplug sound muffling. There's just ... no noise. Spectacular. Now, as the manual says, "You may need to rotate the earbud back and forth" to get the maximum noise cancelling effect. But once you do... The world gets quiet and peaceful. I've bought my first Bose ANC earbuds the month after they first introduced them. I've been using them ever since. The QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) provide the best noise cancellation to date. Bravo Bose. And, thank you.

These fit well and sound great. The noise cancelling is really good. I almost can't hear my mower running. Battery life is not as good as I expected. I haven't made it through a 3 hour mow without them running out of battery.

I am quiet happy overall with the earbuds, pretty much what I was expecting, although I wish it would be a tiny bit louder/stronger sound as I need to set the volume almost half way to have a decent listening, I have no hearing issue whatsoever. Order process went super fast and well packaged.

This is a replacement pair after I tragically lost my last ones. They still sound great and the ANC is second to none. The one thing I would love to see changed was your inexplicable decision to not announce to which devices you are connected. I have a phone, an iPad, and a laptop that I regularly switch between. When I first open the earbuds they ping to tell me that they have connected to one or two devices, but I don't know which one until I try using the one. I preferred it when the earbuds announced the devices that were connected. Also, it would be nice if there was a "preferred device" option. By default I regularly use the earbuds with my phone and then switch between the iPad and the laptop. It is frustrating the frequency with which I will have my phone with me, but the earbuds connect to the laptop and iPad first.

I have tried many brands of in-ear buds, some with remarkable claims in reviews that fall short. These BOSE QuietComfortUltra Earbuds however are worth every cent. I have a high frequency hearing loss but these are crystal clear to me across the range and their noise cancelling is equal to the claims of some similar priced headphones. They were easy to get a good fit and easy to learn to operate. I strongly recommend them.

Once you find the correct fit with the various size tips and stability wings the noise cancellation is fantastic and comfortable to wear for long periods. The new cinema mode is great for watching streaming shows on your connected devices

I bought these a few weeks ago and so far, they work great. I also have the open earbuds but bought these for when I need noise cancelation - such as on an airplane. The only issue I have is the fit because at time one tend to fall out of my ear. I really haven't tried the other bands which may solve the problem. Otherwise sound quality is awesome and as I said, noise cancelation is top notch.

The sound quality is excellent, but the problem with these earbuds is that-quite frequently, roughly every two months-they have to be sent back to Bose. This is unacceptable for such an expensive product. Bose needs to fix the issue or pull them from the market.

Excellent fit, stylish color and great sound. I had to replace my 10 year old in ear Bose ear buds which I loved everything about except the fit. I was afraid the quality would not be the same but I am pleased with my purchase and they fit like a glove.

I can find nothing wrong with these buds. Noise cancellation is tops, sound is everything you would expect with Bose and battery life is not a problem, but I have not used them on any long flights

I brought a pair of the Bose earbuds around a month ago, and I've found them really good compared to the others I've had, it took a little to get use to the controls but once worked them out they're great as I can have them that I can hear everything around me, so I know what's going on, or I can reduce how much I can hear around me or completely knock the background sounds completely. So I just hear the crystal clear sounds of my music.

I bought these 2nd Gen earbuds to replace my 1st Gen earbuds because I had heard that the newer model had MUCH better noise cancellation. This might be true, however, Bose has, across the board, made ALL the ear tips for the new models much smaller. My 1st Gen earbuds came with the middle ear tips attached and they sealed great against my ears. I couldn't get a good seal against one of my ears with the new earbuds and noticed that the ear tips seemed smaller. So I put on the largest of the three ear tips and compared it to my 1st Gen pair and even the large size ear tips on these new earbuds are smaller than the middle tips of the 1st Gen earbuds. Anybody trying to seal larger ears is going to struggle and will probably have to push these slightly down into your ear canal. Maybe that's what Bose intended, I'm not sure, but I know that I cannot wear them for long if I have to insert something into my ear canal. I MUCH prefer the 1st Gen design that seals tight against my outer ear. Personally, I think they need to go back to that size ear tip and increase the size of the little hook at the top. That's the part that really stabilizes things and smaller ones just don't put enough pressure on to keep them stable. As far as sound goes, I DO think these 2nd Gen earbuds sound better than my 1st Gen earbuds. I think the treble is more clear and less tinny and the bass is big without taking over the music. I do wish that Bose would build a more comprehensive EQ into their software or at least give us the option to use it. The overly simplistic EQ in the software isn't granular enough to really get these tuned in to my ears. I have to rely on a third party software if I really want to adjust these correctly. Honestly, I'm not sure if these are truly an improvement over my 1st Gen earbuds and I'm disappointed that I bought them since my 1st Gen earbuds are still working fine. Sound-wise the new earbuds are probably better but I'm not so sure about noise cancellation. Without a good seal against my ear I'm not really sure these are better. I'd say it's a draw and I think Bose took a step BACK on the ear tip design. Less material in the ear tips and smaller hooks doesn't make them seal better. How would it?

Already have a pair of these earbuds. Have bought a second pair as they only last 6 hours. This is the only criticism I have about them. They are fabulous otherwise. I would highly recommend them.. would be 5 stars it lasted longer.

I've had hearing problems for most of my life, and every pair of headphones I tried would give me headaches after a short time. The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds completely changed that. I can hear clearly, wear them comfortably all day, and they never cause the discomfort I used to experience. I've also been living with ringing in my ears (tinnitus) for the past four years, and these earbuds have helped mask it, making daily life much more comfortable. I'm so impressed with the quality and comfort that I bought a second pair as a backup. Thank you, Bose, for designing such an excellent product!
