Review Summary

Sometimes I forget just how much better B+W filters are than others. I again tried a more budget-oriented brand and finally had to replace it. These polarizers are just so good - very pronounced effect, smooth turning, no perceptible color cast, and I have never, not once had a B+W filter get stuck on a lens. I have used the top -of-the-line polarizers from B+W, but honestly this entry-level model is all I need for my professional work.

Circular polarizing filter is a must for landscape photography. The B+W was a great choice. It fits snuggly on the lens but is easy to take off when not needed. Allows plenty of light onto the sensor while blocking reflections from water or chrome. Gives nice rendering of colors without being overly saturated.

An excellent choice

Circular polarizing filter is a must for landscape photography. The B+W was a great choice. It fits snuggly on the lens but is easy to take off when not needed. Allows plenty of light onto the sensor while blocking reflections from water or chrome. Gives nice rendering of colors without being overly saturated.
You can capture the vibrant hues of a deep blue sky or the rich colors of autumn foliage with the 67mm Basic Circular Polarizer MRC Filter. This B+W polarizing filter, a crucial tool for both analog and digital photography, enhances the natural colors in your shots and boosts color saturation.
The rotating filter mounts allow you to visibly control the polarization effect directly through your camera's viewfinder or monitor display. This B+W polarizer also reduces reflections from non-metallic surfaces like water, glass, and glossy paint, making objects and people behind these surfaces visible again. This unique feature provides an intriguing image enhancement without the need for post-processing.
Designed as a circular polarizer, this filter is compatible with almost all modern cameras, especially when beam splitters are used in the light path for TTL exposure metering or autofocus. This compatibility ensures that exposure errors are avoided. The filter's multiplying factor with HTC ranges from 2 to 3, equivalent to 1 to 1.5 f-stops, while other polarizers can reach up to approximately 3 stops.
In landscape photography, the maximum polarization effect is achieved when shooting at a 90-degree angle to the sun. To ensure an even effect in your photos, and due to uneven skylight polarization, your focal length should ideally not be less than 28 mm in 35 mm format. With the right orientation, this polarizer can completely suppress reflections in ideal situations. An ideal situation here refers to when the lighting and shooting angles are almost the same and correspond to the angle of maximum polarization, typically between 30 to 40 degrees.
In summary, the 67mm Basic Circular Polarizer MRC Filter is a vital tool for photographers looking to enhance their images' color saturation and reduce unwanted reflections.
