Review Summary

Have used this lens for Aviation photography for almost 2 years now, i understand this is a starter lens, usually on a starter camera, (T7) but this lens definitely has some problems. Zooming past 150-200 mm cooks the sharpness, but after mastering the lens, it can be a manageable loose cannon, getting sharper images after figuring out camera settings and prime focal lengths. Going from this lens to the EF 100-400, is a whole different experience. The 75-300 is a decent starter lens and i won't discredit it, it has got me some of my best photos, (somehow) but in conclusion, there are definitely better lenses out there. Cheers.

The only canon product i've ever been disappointed with. I've owned this lens for about 12 years now, it's about as sharp as a balloon. Soft focus galore on every single shot. When I sold my T3 (which this lens came with) I refused to sell this lens to the buyer, as this lens almost made me quit photography. I was convinced I didnt know what I was doing, however, when I purchased an L series lens suddenly my results became useable. I was able to definitively determine that this lens was the cause of my poorly focused images.

I got this as a gift from my Grandpa and I love it so far. Given me some really great shots, a little less zoom than I need for a lot of my shots but that's not Canon's fault.

Lens was exactly as described and fit the canon camera I search for. Shipping was very reasonable and it was an overall great experience. I will think of adorama first for any future photography purchases.

Great lens! I've gotten closeup shots of bees on flowers from feet away that were almost as good as a macro. Good enough range for sports, or wildlife too

Great 75-300mm lens for your photos. Easily able to hot swap from one lens to another. This lens gave me more range to shoot thing even further in landscape photography.

I bought this lens 6 weeks ago and have been very impressed with it thus far. The only reason I didn't give it a five star rating is I don't believe it was intended to be a five star telephoto lens. Light weight, easy to use, and taking impressive shots of birds in flight I have no complaints. If this lens can freeze a hummingbird's wings in flight and make a sharp clear portrait of it then I got my money's worth. And indeed, I got my money's worth. I'm glad I got it added to my glass.

Very pleased with my new light weight telephoto lens and everything that came with it. It's not easy to carry my 150-600mm lens around all the time. Great backup.

Super great lens is shooting with a tripod! I use it for Astrophotography and I can get great shots of the Orion Nebula with no telescope in a single image.

I give this lens 5 stars based on its overall quality:value ratio. To be clear, it is not comparable to the 70-200 f2.8 (or even the f4) with image stabilization, but at its amazingly low price point, this is a very good lens. I purchased mine about two years ago as an inexpensive (on a "deal of the day" sale, around $100) emergency backup lens. Opened the box, attached it to my 6D M1, ran a few test shots, then tucked it into my bag where it has stayed until this past week. Recently, I attended a concert at a venue that allowed cameras but no flash or "pro" lenses, so I was unable to pull out my 70-200 f2.8 IS. Without terribly great expectations, I decided to give the 75-300 some work. Much to my surprise, this lens yielded very good image quality; even at 300mm, the labels on the guitars and drum heads could be clearly read. My distance to the subjects ranged between 60-80 feet. I didn't experience any of the soft focus or vignetting issues mentioned in other reviews. My camera was a 6D M2 shooting at ISOs between 8000-10,000. A number of the reviews mention the need to use a tripod, but all of my shooting was handheld and I had no problems with shake as long as I kept the shutter speed above 1/125. A couple sample photos attached. IS is a great feature, but anyone who's been shooting before IS existed should know how to brace a camera without using a tripod. The lens is extremely light and easy to hand hold, and the extra 100mm (vs the 70-200) of reach proved very beneficial. For photographers who need telephoto capability but are on a tight budget (or those that just want to have a lightweight backup to their "big" lenses), this 73-300 is a decent piece of glass to have in your bag

I purchased a Canon 6d body only. I bought this lense mainly because of the price. It gave me something to work with while learning the camera. The lense takes good pictures and I am happy with it while I build my bank roll for a better lense.

No space? No problem! Here's how you can set up a studio in a small space. You need two things to set up a home studio: First, the physical space to place the gear, and second, the will to do it, which is often the only thing standing between you and setting up a home studio.
If you’re now in the happy process of deciding which lenses will give you the maximum bang for the buck, you’ve come to the right place. These dozen high-value, high-performance lenses have all been carefully selected to complement the stand...

does this fit a cannon rebel t7
By skygirl
I want to buy a zoom Lens. I have a cannon rebel t7 . does it fit this camera??
Great for action shots and close ups.
By Cheer M.
This lens is fantastic. My daughter is a competitive cheerleader and I am always up in the stands trying to get decent pictures. With this lens it is as if I am right next to her. The close ups and actions shots are fantastic. Would recommend to anyone - especially a beginner like me. Takes excellent pictures!
“AF” usually refers to autofocus in the photography world, but here, it also stands for affordability. Meet the CANON EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III (NON USM) USA, a high-functioning zoom camera capable of taking beautiful live action shots, astounding landscapes, and more:
Want a lens that sees exactly what you see when you look at a sunset? Check out this Canon lens and you’ll be amazed at how much of each sunset can be captured in every single shot.
No, you’re not looking at a space telescope designed to carry pictures of distant galaxies—this is actually the CANON EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III (NON USM) USA lens. And even if it’s not going into space anytime soon, you’ll still be amazed at the features and capabilities that Canon was able to pack into this bad boy, ranging from a DC motor for the autofocus to 9 groups and 13 elements of design. If you want to grab a lens that allows you to zoom in for a range of effects, from background blurring and general depth tomfoolery to plenty of landscape power, you’ve found it. Not the only question we have to ask here at Adorama is: what are the technical specs that make the Canon EF 75-300mm F/4-5.6 III lens such an attractive option as your next lens purchase?
When you need to zoom in and you need a lens that will do it for you without breaking the bank, the CANON EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III (NON USM) USA may just be the best option on the market.
Are you an avid photographer seeking a versatile lens for capturing sports, portraits, or wildlife The Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Lens is a compact, lightweight, and high-quality 4x telephoto zoom lens that is designed to meet your diverse photography needs. With its silver ring on the front part of the zoom ring, this lens adds a touch of luxury to your photography gear.
The optical system, construction, and exterior of this lens mirror those of the esteemed EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM model. The key difference lies in the autofocus (AF) drive system. Instead of a USM, this lens employs a DC motor to power the AF, ensuring fast and efficient autofocus, making it an excellent choice for sports and other fast-paced photography scenarios.
Despite its powerful features, the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Lens maintains a compact size and close focusing range, making it a convenient addition to your camera bag. It also shares accessory compatibility with the USM lens, providing flexibility for photographers who already own or plan to invest in additional Canon accessories.
For advanced amateurs and beginners alike, the 75-300mm range of this lens serves as an ideal entry point into the world of telephoto photography. Whether you're shooting close-ups of wildlife or capturing the action on a sports field, the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Lens is designed to deliver crisp, clear, and stunning images.
