Questions & Answers

KEVIN L : the 0.9 means 9 stops? or what? thank youROBERT V : 0.9 is a density figure I have no idea how they measure that. What you want to know for photography is that it's 3 stops. Each stop is a factor of two. Two to the third power is 8. Hence the 8x or 3-stop rating. Remember this may drop you below where your camera is able to autofocus.
Shopper : What is the best density filter for the soft waterfall effect in the shade and sun?JOHN N : Unfortunately I have not had a chance to take that particular picture. That was my intent. Good luck.JOHN A M : I think that the 8X would offer good possibilities for either condition.DANIEL D : I found this filter to work well in day light to lower my shutter speed when photographing water falls to get the blur effect. Great filter to have in you camera stuff.
Shopper : in ref. to this lens what does the 67mm mean, can this be used with a 300mm lens?JACQUELINE C : The 67mm is the diameter of the filter. The 300 mm for your lens refers to its maximum focal length, so these are two different measures. You should be able to measure or look up what the diameter of your lens is so that you can order a filter with the same diameter or buy an adapter to connect the two.DON S : 67mm is the diameter of the front threads of the lens. 300mm is the focal length. Look at the specs of the 300mm lens and see what size filter it uses.ROBERT B : 67mm refers to the diameter of the threads on the end of the lens. These threads can be used for lens protectors, or filters of various kinds. So this dimension is completely independent of the focal length, 300mm in your case. Since an ND filter is designed to reduce the amount of light reaching the lens it can be used on any focal length lens. It allows you to use a slower shutter speed for a given aperture.GARY M : When looking at lens filters, the size of the filter (in this case, 67mm) is in reference to the 'Filter Size' of your lens. for example, on my nikkor 70-300mm lens, the rated filter size is 67mm. Check with the mfg of your lens.JOHN S : The 67mm refers to the size of the filter; that is the diameter of the opening at the front of your lens into which the filter screws. Google the name of your lens and "filter size". You should be able to quickly find the filter size for your lens. It *might* be 67mm, it might be something else. Be sure to buy the right sized filter.JEFFREY B : the mm size of a filter is a measurement of the diameter of the filter's screw in threads. Usually the filter thread size for a lens is marked on the front of the lens next to a symbol of a circle with a diagonal line through it. Or you can search online for the correct filter size for your lens. The filter diameter may also be marked on the back of your lens cap.KARY S : 67mm refers to the diameter of the filter and its thread size. The diameter of your 300mm lens should be marked on the inside of the lens cover.

Great ND filter for the money

Seems to be of good quality for the money. I have used it once as I just got it but what I used it for was to photograph Football players posed with flash in bright sun and it enabled me to lower my sync speed to 1/200 at F4. Camera (Nikon d750 with 70-200 2.8 lens) had no problem auto focusing. In post production no change in sharpness or color.

Great four-stop ND filter

I found this four-stop ND filter to work extremely well. Highly recommended for more sophisticated landscape shots with moving water and other applications where motion or bright light is to be manipulated.

Clean crisp day time with my inspire 2

Wasn?t aware of brand recognition at first but I must say this is a GREAT tool Esp combing a circular polorizer on a drone. This size fits the x5-x5r-X5s. I have it on the latter but they are all the same Lumix I mean DJI 15mm stock lens. I love it. Clean. Neat. And makes shooting in the brightest of day a breeze.

Bright day shooting are longer an issue

Wow, I love filter! My camera shutter speed is maxed out at 4,000 and this filter not only gives me high quality images with no distortion or weird colors but it also brings down my shutter speed from 4,000 to around 320 @ 4.0 in the middle of the afternoon on a very bright day with no exposure compensation.

Good for the price

This is a decent filter for the price. Does a good job of reducing light to allow a slower shutter speed for blurred movement.

This filter is clean and pretty close to neutral. Doesn't dampen image quality and makes it possible to photograph or shot video in bright conditions with a good aperture.

About Hoya HMC ND Filter

FEATURED REVIEWS

Good product

By Photog

Hoya is among the best of the best for filters. This ND filter can be used to reduce light and change your exposure when using fast films such as ISO 200 or 400 in bright outdoor lighting conditions.

Terrific filter

By Bay p.

Terrific filter for controlling outside light. Great for not completely overexposing backgrounds while getting exposure correct on your subject.

Under the umbrella of high-quality camera accessories, the 67mm 8X (0.9) Neutral Density Multi Coated Glass Filter stands out as a superior tool for photographers. This Neutral Density (ND) filter is expertly designed to uniformly diminish the intensity of light passing through the lens, all while preserving the original color balance.

This filter is particularly beneficial in scenarios where there's an abundance of bright light and a narrow depth of field is required. It facilitates slower shutter speeds, making it an excellent choice for photographers looking to capture motion blur or emphasize movement in their shots.

Moreover, the 67mm 8X (0.9) Neutral Density Multi Coated Glass Filter aids in balancing exposure, allowing photographers to highlight a key subject in their frame. It also enables the use of higher speed films in bright light conditions, expanding the range of creative possibilities.

Hoya, a trusted name in the photography world, offers Neutral Density filters in a variety of sizes and three distinct strengths: .3 (2x) which reduces light by one f-stop, .6 (4x) which reduces light by two f-stops, and .9 (8x) which reduces light by three f-stops. This particular model, the 67mm 8X (0.9), falls into the latter category, making it an ideal choice for photographers seeking significant light reduction.

In summary, the 67mm 8X (0.9) Neutral Density Multi Coated Glass Filter is a versatile, high-quality accessory that can greatly enhance the photographic experience and the resulting images.
