The AW-UE160 4K PTZ camera features a newly developed 4K 1" MOS sensor that offers the highest sensitivity of Panasonic's entire PTZ lineup. Production teams shooting in a concert venue or a church can easily capture clear images even in the most challenging lighting conditions. Meanwhile, the UE160's new optical low pass filter reduces the effect of moire for clearer picture quality when shooting against an LED wall, which is especially important for rental and staging or worship environments. Its high-speed frame rate will help sports broadcasters capture slow motion shots in HD for replays, while seamless integration with the robotic camera system brings live broadcast-style movements to the PTZ, resulting in a dynamic and highly engaging video production.
Next Level PTZ Camera Performance
The AW-UE160 PTZ camera supports return input and high-speed shooting, which are indispensable for building a combined system with a system camera and is equipped with a tally lamp on the rear panel and two XLR channels for audio output. It is the first ever remote camera to support the SMPTE ST2110 standard1 and 5G router (USB tethering compatible), the standard for IP transmission in the broadcasting industry. The flexibility of the remote camera to freely set positions and angles and the specifications comparable to those of a system camera allow for the pursuit of unique and new video expression.
Advanced Connectivity
The AW-UE160 supports HDMI, 3G-SDI, and IP output as well as 12G-SDI output and optical fiber output. Also equipped with two XLR channels for audio input. The output method can be selected to suit the operation, making it easy to add to an existing imaging system or build a system tailored to the site.
In addition, there are no restrictions on the video output method, even when outputting from multiple terminals simultaneously, allowing simultaneous operation in 4K. For example, it is possible to set up a system that operates with three main lines (12G-SDI), one for confirmation (3G-SDI OUT1), and one for monitor display (3G-SDI OUT2).
Industry's First SMPTE ST2110 Standard Compatible PTZ Camera
The AW-UE160 is the first PTZ Camera to support the SMPTE ST2110 standard for video transmission over IP networks. By constructing an IP-based studio system in combination with the IT/IP platform "KAIROS" or AK-UC4000/AK-UCU600/AK-NP600, it is possible to improve the efficiency of your video production workflow.
Wide Range of Supported Protocols
High image quality and low latency with high bandwidth NDI support
High bandwidth NDI and high efficiency low bandwidth NDI|HX, which encode and transmit high-quality video in real time, are included. High bandwidth NDI transmits 4K video at a maximum of 250 Mbps and full HD video at a maximum of 125 Mbps, enabling high-quality, low-latency live video transmission.
SRT support for stable video transmission over public lines
SRT, a next-generation video transmission protocol with strong security suitable for unstable network environments, is supported.
Direct Broadcast via RTMP/RTMPS
RTMP/RTMPS is supported to enable direct upload of video to live-streaming services such as YouTube Live and Facebook Live. This means a live stream can be broadcast directly from the camera.
Next Generation Image Processing Engine
The AW-UE160 PTZ camera uses a new-generation image processing engine, also used in the LUMIX GH6, with improved processing power. High-pixel image data output from the 1-type (1") (effective size) MOS sensor, which offers an excellent balance between adequate depth of field, high image quality and high sensitivity, is processed at high speed to improve the S/N ratio. In terms of autofocus (AF) performance, the subject detection performance has been greatly improved through faster processing of calculations and improved AF algorithms, and highly accurate AF is achieved by discriminating between the subject's movement and characteristics. It also offers high video processing performance and enables more unique video expression with resolution performance, high sensitivity performance, and color reproduction that does not compromise your commitment to video image creation.
Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF)
The AW-UE160 is equipped with a new AF system that combines phase detection AF (phase detection) with contrast AF (contrast detection). The PTZ camera's fast focusing speed and high focusing accuracy enable it to track subjects and capture in-focus images, whether it is continuously focusing on a moving subject or switching focus on multiple subjects.
AR / VR Positioning with FreeD Protocol
To be able to incorporate realistic VR (virtual reality) or AR (augmented reality) studio sets in your live productions, accurate camera positioning data is imperative. The AW-UE160 features the FreeD protocol, which provides you with the option to output Pan / Tilt / Zoom / Iris information via Serial (RS 422) and IP (UDP) directly from the camera to your tracking system. The FreeD protocol is supported by most popular virtual set systems, including solutions such as Brainstorm, Ross UX XPERIENCE / Xpression, The Future Group Pixotope, Vizrt Viz Virtual Studio, and Zero Density. The UE160's FreeD compliant command enables the integration of robotic camera systems into virtual studios / virtual sets without an encoder.
Moire Reduction (OLPF)
The Panasonic AW-UE160 has an integrated Optical Low Pass Filter (OLPF). This feature helps address moire, a huge challenge producers and creators are experiencing with ever-popular LED walls. Moire is the noticeable contrast between the light of the image and the darkness of the gap between LEDs. Our OLPF feature is done optically, and prevents the high frequency information from passing and smooths out the total surface area for high-quality video output.
Outstanding Low-Light Performance
The high sensitivity of F14/2000 lx allows for clear, clean images even when shooting moving subjects in dimly lit locations such as stages and live venues. The sensitivity can be set to either Normal mode or Low Light mode, depending on the shooting location and scene.
Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) & Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS)
In addition to the conventional 2-axis in-lens image stabilization (Pitch/Yaw), which is based on fine-tuning of the lens, the camera also features roll correction that uses electronic image processing technology to provide highly effective correction. Stable images with reduced blurring can be shot even in locations where special equipment such as a rail systems or camera arms are used.
Equipped with Front & Rear Tally Lamp
The AW-UE160 features an additional tally lamp on the camera rear (operator side) so that you can see the camera status from any angle. The tally lamp can be linked to the front and rear sides to set the brightness and to turn the tally indicators ON/OFF. The additional yellow tally lamp can be used for any number of applications, such as when there are a large number of cameras, when multiple cameras are used on site, or when simultaneous streaming and recording are required.
Video Return Input Function
The AW-UE160 PTZ camera can be used as a prompter for return images and manuscript displays where the performer checks the video being streamed or broadcast on the spot, allowing adjustment and shooting to the targeted angle when performing chroma key compositing or when linking with AR/VR systems.
Supports 2x High-Speed Video Output
The AW-UE160 PTZ camera captures smooth and beautiful slow-motion video by performing high-speed shooting at FHD 120 fps so not a single frame of the decisive moment is missed.
Output from HDMI output or 2 SDI OUTs (3G SDI OUT1, 3G SDI OUT2). When outputting using 2 SDI OUTs, a separate slow motion server is required.
Cropping Function
It is possible to crop-zoom and cut out video at the same time as outputting an entire video shot in 4K. The cropping position can be specified from a maximum of three locations and can be easily operated from the AW-RP150 PTZ Camera controller or web browser screen.
V-LOG Output Support
Compatible with V-LOG, which is used in Panasonic's high-end VariCam cinema cameras and LUMIX mirrorless cameras. The wide dynamic range and wide color gamut provide images suitable for color grading. When used in conjunction with our camera recorders and studio cameras equipped with V-LOG, video production with consistent image creation is possible. In addition, two settings, V-LOG and V-709, can be selected independently for each output interface. Simultaneously output 4K V-LOG video for color grading while outputting Full HD V-709 video for onsite monitoring.
HDR (HLG) Support
The camera supports HDR (High Dynamic Range) to prevent blown-out highlights and blocked-up shadows and enable picture quality close to that of the naked eye. The color balance is shifted to display according to the BT.2020 color gamut (compliant with HLG/BT.2020).
Simplified Multi-Camera Deployment & Color Matching
With the scene file function, users can save up to eight scene files containing various camera settings and copy them to multiple cameras via a PC. This massively reduces on-location setup time when shooting at events with large numbers of cameras.
Color matrix control allows sensory adjustment of color on the screen, making color matching easier. The workload for image and color matching can be reduced, which reduces the time and effort required to deploy the system and prepare for video productions.
