Used product like new and love it

Focus on the Tamron is really good above 250mm. not so much from 150-200. That being said I have taken the best shots of Alligators and Ospreys as it can get you real close fast. All in all the lens functions as Id hoped. It is a bit of a beast as far as weight though so be prepared.

Used it for quite a bit even when I cae acroff animals and birds. Focuses fast enough to get sharp photos and video during the day outdoors. WIth high ISO and stablization you can get it to work well indoors as well .

Solid lens, especially for the price point

This lens seems to be well built and works flawlessly with my Canon T7i. Autofocus is quick and spot on, pictures are crisp. I use it primarily for nature shots, birds and other wildlife. I do use a tripod most of the time as the combination of camera and lens is a bit heavy. I have taken offhand shots with no blurring or other problems.

I'm very happy with this product and I think it's a great lens for the price. Several of my photography club friends recommended this lens to me.

My new Tamron 150-600 mm G2 lens is tack sharp and so easy to use. It works so well in continuous mode. The wings on the humming birds that I photograph are so clear. I had a Sigma 150-500, but was never satisfied with the results. Tamron beats it by a mile!

Very good lens, best used with tripod if in lower light.

The lens is everything I expected; solid, dependable, not too heavy, focuses pretty quickly. The only reason I gave a "4" is that it needs a brighter/sunnier day. The wider front lens helps but you still need a larger aperture and higher ISO to let the best light in. You also need a fast shutter speed, if you are not using a tripod, since the size of the lens tends to make it a bit hard to hold steady. On the whole it is a very good lens but best used on a tripod if the light isn't right.

Love close up

It was very easy to use right out of the box with no experience. Hand held takes practice, but not too hard to get use to.

Fantastic lens with beautiful optics!

Fantastic lens with beautiful optics. Slight issue using it with my new mirrorless Canon R5, but I found work-arounds in the settings and it now functions seamlessly and I have been thrilled with my images.

Great new Tamron telefoto lens

The weather has not cooperated so I've only been able to use it once, but I'm impressed with the results. I used it to take close-ups of songbirds visiting my feeders and I'm very happy with the results. The photos were crisp, showing great detail on the feathers and the colors were true-to-life. It appears to be an excellent value for the price. This is a replacement lens for a Tamron 150-500 mm zoom lens I bought over a decade ago. That was a great lens but I've worn it out. I hope I get as many years of excellent service out of this new lens.

Love this lens

What a crisp lens, beautiful pictures and easy to use, I like how you can put it on a monopod for help with the heaviness but you could also do handheld if needed

Happy with the Tamron 150 - 600mm G2

I was hesitant at first to go with this lens but finally bit the bullet and ordered. It arrived a few days later. My first impression was that is was well made and light for it's size and focal length 150 - 600 mm. I took it out the next day to photograph some Burrowing Owls. These are very small owls about the size of a hand. They are a protected bird, so getting to close to them and their nesting area is not allowed by law. That's where to 600mm end of the focal length comes into play. I decided to go hand held to see how everything worked out. I was quite happy with the results. The images were crisp and clear. The focus was fast and accurate. I did raise my ISO higher than I normally shoot to enable me to use faster shutter speeds. There are not many affordable options (for me at least) in the 600mm range. I am very happy with the purchase. One note, I am using this with a DSLR and not mirrorless.

Upgrade indeed!

Nice bokeh, great improvement over G1. Lens is sturdier and reacts more quickly. Loved the G1, and going to REALLY love the G2. Paired with a Canon 5Ds

Great Lens For Wild Life

So far it's been a great lens. Has some interesting setting for short or long focal length - a handy feature. The upside is it really brings in the wildlife, but be prepared if you want to hike and take hand held images, it's heavy, but I've gotten used to it.

A Keeper

By OXFORD L.

After using the very sharp Canon 100-400 mark II, sometimes with a 1.4x extender, and getting good wildlife images, I wanted to shoot in lower light conditions at 600mm. Also, I was always having to swap the extender in and out. So, I gave this one a try. I am a pixel peeper and I have learned by microadjusting lenses that AF consistency improves, sometimes dramatically, when lenses are dialed in precisely. Also, that lens softness may be due to not micro-adjusting properly, So, I bought...

Lens quality great, VC and AF switches not so much

By TOM O.

I love the quality of my images with the G2 and all of the changes made from the first version but my big peeve is the VC and AF switches. They protrude above the lens body and I am constantly inadvertently knocking them out of position. This is a real pain. They are not protected like on Canon lens's. Trying to figure out how I might McGiver the lens to solve t he problem.

World acclaimed ultra-telephoto zoom reborn, meet the all-new next generation
The SP 150-600mm G2 (Generation 2) ultra-telephoto lens with upgraded optical performance enables handheld shooting with remarkable definition. This new lens builds upon the success of the current SP 150-600mm (Model A011) which Tamron first introduced in December, 2013, including better overall optical performance and faster AF speed, VC enhancements, plus Fluorine Coating, FLEX ZOOM LOCK and tele converter.

Rebuilt from the ground up to meet Tamron's strict quality standards and design specifications, this new zoom combines smart engineering and high performance with quality craftsmanship, durability and user friendliness.

Enhanced optics meet greater versatility
The SP 150-600mm G2 includes three LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements which completely eliminate axial and transverse chromatic aberrations. It also features upgraded optical construction (21 elements in 13 groups). Anti-reflection technologies, eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) Coating and BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating improve light transmission and suppress internal reflections, including light reflected off the camera's image sensors. So even when taking a backlit or semi-backlit photograph, ghosting and flare caused by reflected light are fully eliminated.

Additional enhancements expand the lens versatility. You can enjoy tele-macro photography and dramatic bokeh.

Capture the moment with sharpness and accuracy
The Model A022 is equipped with the USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) ring-type motor that delivers excellent responsiveness and control. AF speed is significantly improved from current model and it enables accurate high-speed focus even when capturing moving subjects. When shooting with AF, the Full-time Manual Focus override allows you to instantly make fine focusing adjustments manually, without having to switch between modes.

FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism enables zoom lock at any position
FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism quickly locks or unlocks the zoom at any position simply by sliding the zoom ring. Photographers can shoot from any angle without the zoom extending unintentionally. Additionally, the customary Zoom Lock switch prevents unwanted barrel extension during transportation.

The pursuit of functional beauty is applied to every aspect of the new ultra-telephoto zoom
This design philosophy in pursuit of functional beauty with a "Human Touch" is applied even to minute details for the SP 150-600mm G2 ultra-telephoto lens as well. The design includes the front portion of the lens composed of curved surfaces that comfortably fit in the palm of a photographer's hand, the focus ring and zoom ring with the groove width optimized to improve user-friendliness, the focus limiter switch allowing for easy operation, the easy-to-hold grip compatible with the Arca-Swiss type quick release system and other features.

The lens hood with smooth curves that fit the lens barrel has a design that allows for its easy attachment and removal. While using metal as the exterior material and adding numerous new functions such as the FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism, the SP 150-600mm G2 achieves a size and weight making comfortable handheld shooting possible, with a slim and stylish appearance design to top it all off.

Reduce flare and ghosting with eBAND and BBAR
Two highly developed lens coating technologies, eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency), which uses nanotechnology and BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) combine to increase light transmission and to reduce flare and ghosting to imperceptible levels. The lens delivers high contrast, sharp and clear images.

Electromagnetic diaphragm system compatible with Nikon cameras
An electromagnetic diaphragm system, which has been a standard feature for Canon-mount lenses, is employed in Nikon-mount lenses. More precise diaphragm and aperture control is possible because the diaphragm blades are driven and controlled by a motor through electronic pulse signals.

Lightweight, easy-to-hold tripod mount is compatible with an Arca-Swiss type quick-release plate
A new textured grip and Arca-Swiss style tripod interface enhance both speed and utility. And because the tripod mount is made of lightweight magnesium, it is much easier to carry.

Fluorine Coating for protection and safe cleaning
The front surface of the lens element is coated with a protective fluorine compound that is water- and oil-repellant. The lens surface is easier to wipe clean and is less vulnerable to the damaging effects of dirt, dust, moisture and fingerprints.

Moisture-Resistant Construction protects your lens
For greater protection when shooting outdoors, leak-proof seals throughout the lens barrel help protect your equipment.

Compatible with the TAMRON TAP-in Console
The optional TAP-in Console provides a USB connection to your personal computer, enabling you to easily update your lens's firmware as well as customize features including fine adjustments to the AF and VC.

Intuitive design plus cutting-edge performance
The new design adopted for the four fixed focal lens models in the SP series already on the market is essentially a fusion of engineering and style, in pursuit of functional beauty and craftsmanship by paying thorough attention to minute details. With metal used as the exterior material, a high-grade design has been created based on the design concept that emphasizes "Human Touch" characteristics, with user-friendliness considerably improved as a result. Those SP models feature a novel design for the switches, easy-to-read characters, an enlarged window over the distance scale and the adoption of organic forms easy for the photographer's fingers to hold onto. Compatible with Sony Alpha DSLR cameras.
