Ok for wedding dslr videografers. You get some noise, but still gives you a great sound.

I use it with my D300s shooting pictures and video at my daughters high school basketball games. I typically shoot close to the net and the team members and parents really have loved both the pictures and the videos. The Rode VideoMic really helped with it's enhanced sound recording capabilities.

I'm sure this mic sounds great, but unfortunately the external mic pre-amp on the D7000 is noisy, so it wasn't worth using it. I ended up buying the Rode NTG-2 and now use a Zoom H4n to record audio. Having to sync in post means an extra step, but it's totally worth it!

The video from my DSLR is GREAT, but the sound is NOT. The in-camera mic picks up all kinds of camera noise and wind noise, plus it provides a weak sound track. The sound quality of the Rode is very good and the shotgun style gives a strong volume sound track to work with. If you're going to mount the mic in the DSLR "hot shoe" the mount location need to be changed, but that is easily done. Now that I have the Rode, I don't shoot video without it.

So far it is working great on my 5D II. I had to shift it to one end so I could look with the viewfinder. Sound quality is great.

Fantastic mic. Has switchable attenuator and high pass filter. High pass filter works great. Sound quality is very clear. With the mic inside my car with the windows down, barely any windnoise or vehicle noise. Highly recommended.

A Very Good Product

The RODE VideoMic is a professional grade shotgun microphone. Based on the latest 'Film industry' technology, the VideoMic is designed specifically for use with high quality Digital Video Cameras.
The microphone exhibits low noise and an unusually wide bandwidth for its size. It is ultra lightweight, yet rugged due to it's ABS construction. The VideoMic is powered by a standard 9V battery and offers a Low Battery LED status indicator and a switchable high pass filter to reduce unwanted low frequency rumble.
The VideoMic attaches to any Camcorder that has the standard camera-shoe fitting and utilizes a stereo mini jack for audio output.
