Great motherboard with amazing features such as the AI overclocking and the BIOS flash is extremely useful. I was able to flash the bios to accept my 13Gen Intel chip using the usb flashdrive under 5 mins. Im receiving a warranty extension from ASUS for my feedback.

I picked up a new i9 processor for a build. My last build was over a decade ago and the Asus P6X58D is still going strong but I needed something Windows 11 compatible. This board is awesome. .

To get it out of the way, this review was prompted by Asus' offer of a 90-day warranty extension for my Strix Z690-A motherboard, but that in no way is influencing my opinion, only prompting me to submit a review. Although I've only had the machine up and running for about a week and a half, that week and a half has been absolutely smooth, with no problems whatsoever. My last motherboard was from (a competing company also beginning with an A) that had given me problems from the start, so much so that I'd had it replaced under warranty only to have those same issues recur. That motherboard was replaced along with the microprocessor and chip cooler; there are no new motherboards for the old chip. I've got an i7-12700K installed in the Strix with an AIO water cooler, and the installation went smoothly and easily, with the exception of one mounting hole being reluctant to line up with my Corsair case's bolt hole. Since the previous board lined up without issue, I think that the ASUS was a slight bit off. A little bit of levering with a small driver got it to finally align. The owner's manual could be a little more involved. Physical installation as well as initial start-up may be a bit confusing for a first-time builder. That said, it was a simple matter to install, populate, and get running. And run it has! I have had zero issues with the Strix, and it blazes. Since I was recycling my old system parts (except as previously mentioned), I'd needed a DDR4 board. I'd had an ASUS in a previous build that ran well, so that plus reviews (and excluding the company that had made the board I was replacing) had me going with an ASUS board. I'd chosen this one in large part because of its CMOS reset button; my old board had needed resetting about every 3-4 boots, and due to its problems, that was when staying with stock settings! I haven't played with processor overclocking yet so don't know how much I'll be needing that reset button, but I'm glad to have it anyway. The only changes I've made to the UEFI have been to set the memory to an SMP setting; no problems. I don't know why, but my download speeds via Ethernet cable are almost always literally twice what they were with the previous board. Whereas I would rarely see 300mbps on the old board, and much more often in the vicinity of 100-120 tops, I am frequently seeing 500+mbps on the Strix. Oh yes, I like! I haven't tried a wireless connection yet. So far, not only do I have zero regrets concerning my purchase of the ASUS Strix board, I am very satisfied with it. I would give it 4.5 out of 5 stars due to those minor issues mentioned above, but have no problem rounding that up to 5 stars for a review. For what it's worth, I rarely give 5 stars; 5 stars means perfection and, although this board's and it's owner's manual are not perfect, they are very close to it.

I bought this for my girlfriend's all white PC. Not only does it look great, but the channels for cable management in the heatsink make for a clean build and after experiencing the GPU eject button, it will be hard to buy anything but an ASUS board again.

I made sure to get an ASUS motherboard when building my latest computer after having a good experience with my last board (ROG MAXIMUS HERO VIII). The Strix Z690 did not disappoint. The AI overclocking is genius, it's managed a 35% overclock on my i5-12600k and did so painlessly. XMP settings are great, the BIOS is well configured and the board itself has enough fan and RGB headers to keep me happy and not have to shell out extra for hubs. The DAC quality is really fantastic and powers my studio monitors well, and the included WiFi antenna gets great reception. I'm also quite happy that ASUS offers a Z690 board made for DDR4, the latest DDR5 is still too expensive for too little gain for my tastes.

AI Overclocking
ROG AI Overclocking
ROG AI Overclocking is an intelligent utility that helps you get the most out of your build by automatically profiling your CPU and cooling system to predict optimal voltage and frequency settings.
Accessible via the AI Suite software in Windows or directly through the UEFI, the intuitive AI Overclocking user interface enables users of all levels. A range of customizable settings are available for seasoned overclockers, and an auto-tuning option is available for beginners.
Designed by Experts
At the heart of AI Overclocking is a proprietary algorithm developed by ROG R&D engineers who worked with world-renowned overclockers to create a tool for users of all levels.
Predictive Edge
An algorithm analyzes your CPU and cooling system, then it leverages that data to intelligently predict optimal settings. Custom-tailored frequencies and voltages are automatically applied to perfect the clock-speed optimization process.
Real-Time Adjustments
Workload, system temperature, fan speed and power draw are automatically monitored by the software, and the information is used to make real-time adjustments to ensure ongoing optimal performance.
AI Overclocking Guide
The AI Overclocking Guide provides detailed information and instructions about how to tune your system manually. It can be accessed by hitting the F11 hotkey.
Core Group Loading
For the high-core-count processors in the Z690 series, AI Overclocking software lists data according to core group. This gives you adaptive control based on the status of core groups, and it provides target frequency and voltage estimations needed for manual tuning.
AI Overclocking In AI Suite
Onboard intelligence lets you automate overclocking with full, flexible control via 5-Way Optimization within AI Suite (in Windows).
AI Cooling
ASUS AI Cooling technology automatically manages and controls motherboard-connected fans to ensure optimal settings based on current system load and temperature.
Self-Adaptive Fan Tuning
CPU temperature detection
AI Cooling detects CPU temperatures and uses a proprietary algorithm to calculate the lowest fan speed required to effectively cool the system and keep fan noise down.
Automated optimization
Under stable system loads, the software then automatically lowers fan speed to the optimal setting, decreasing fan noise without compromising performance.
Ongoing monitoring
AI Cooling continues to monitor the system and adjust fan speed based on current load.
Automatic Tuning
One-Click Activation
AI Cooling can easily be activated via the Fan Xpert 4 dashboard in ASUS AI Suite 3. Once activated, it will override all manual controls.
Manual Tuning
Fan Speed References
For those who prefer manual control, AI Cooling provides reference points on a graph that details fan speed in relation to temperature, providing a guide for fan settings.
