Flashpoint’s XPLOR 600 series of high-speed sync battery-powered monolights is changing the world of monolights by replacing pesky power cords with batteries. However, sometimes you need to plug in, so Flashpoint today announced An AC adaptor that has a wired option…as well as a 1200 Ws extension head for the XPLOR 600 system for greater lighting flexibility.
Flashpoint Portable Extension Head 1200 Ws Studio Flash for XPLOR 600
The powerful Flashpoint Portable Extension Head 1200 Ws is an 8-foot extension head that provides twice the lighting power of an XPLOR 600. Basically, the remote head acts as an extension cord between the strobe and the remote flash tube, while retaining the convenience of umbrella holders and all popular Bowens style mount light modifiers, which will fit on the extension head.
Key features:
• 1200ws flashtube extension
• Adds 8 foot of lightweight extension from the monolight
• Useful for boom mounted light modifiers
• Enables remote hard to place light positioning
• No loss of energy
• 180 degree tilt Bowens mount remote head
• Portable carrying case with window and shoulder strap
The compact head is connected via an 8-foot cable to the XPLOR unit, allowing it to be used in hard-to-place locations, in softboxes with booms, or as a gridded hair light. You connect to any XPLOR by simply unplugging the glass shielded flashtube from the XPLOR monolight body, locking the pronged cable link in place and inserting the 1200ws flash tube on the head extension.
A zippered soft case and shoulder strap are included so you can hang the monolight body on a light stand. It also lets you move with a lightman while protecting the unit from the elements in tough weather. A window lets you monitor the LCD display panel and provides access to the controls.
The Flashpoint Portable Extension Head 1200 Ws Studio Flash will be available from Adorama for $299.95 starting October 11. Pre-orders are being accepted now and will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis. Credit cards won’t be charged until orders ship.
Flashpoint AC Adapter Unit for XPLOR 600 R2 Series Monolights
Although the great advantage of the XPLOR 600 is that it is battery powered and that gives location photographers more flexibility, sometimes you simply need to plug in. The AC Adapter for the XPLOR 600 gives you the option to plug the unit into a wall outlet via an 8-foot grounded power cord. It replaces the rear-mounted Flashpoint Powerpack 11.1/8700Ah battery with a 120v AC adapter.
The unit speeds up the XPLOR 600’s recycle time to under 2 seconds at full power. An internal thermal fan is built in for occasions when cooling is needed. A separate power switch protects the main XPLOR body. AC voltage is 110v, and DC output is 11.1v. The AC Adapter Unit retains all of the functionality of the XPLOR 600 R2 but with AC option. Small and light, the adapter weighs 1.3 pounds and measures 4.1×3.4×3.75 inches.
The Flashpoint AC Adapter Unit for the XPLOR 600 R2 Series Monolights will be available from Adorama for $89.95. It is expected to arrive on October 5. Pre-orders are being accepted now and will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis. Credit cards won’t be charged until orders ship.
