Panasonic is giving the LX100 an upgrade and it’s coming out in the form of the new Panasonic Lumix LX100 II. Users retain full creative control with this extension of the respected LX compact camera. The LX100 II commands spectacular image quality with the 17-megapixel Four Thirds sensor that adjusts for multiple aspect ratios and 4K video/photo availability. Not to mention, the LX100 II rocks a fast Leica DC lens with a low end aperture of F/1.7-2.9. The Lumix LX100 II packs all these exceptional features into a compact camera body with DSLR-style shooting controls.

Standout features:

  • 17-megapixel Four Thirds sensor capable of 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, and 1:1 aspect ratios
  • Leica DC lens with F/1.7-2.9 bottom aperture, 24 -75mm focal length and Power Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS)
  • Incredible 4K video in both 24p and 30p frame rates
  • Exclusive 4K photo option plus focus stacking addition and 4K pre-burst
  • 2.4 GHz WiFi capabilities and Bluetooth 4.2 functionality
  • Pristine 2,764k-dot Electronic Viewfinder (EVF)
  • Respectable 1,240k-dot touch enabled monitor that measures 3-inches across
  • Traditional camera controls for quick exposure adjustments

As mentioned above, the LX100 II throws a sizable Four Thirds sensor into a compact body allowing for remarkable photo quality in four different aspect ratios. While shooting in one of the other ratios, a different portion of the sensor is used to capture those frame dimensions and adjusts the pixels accordingly.

As for the lens, it’s hard to go wrong with a Leica. The wide (1.7-2.) aperture means a fast lens capable of capturing a shallow depth of field and being able to shoot in dim lighting.

The Lumix LX100 II offers the finest image quality with 4K video and photo. The shooter has the option of shooting in 24p or 30p frame rate depending on the amount of movement and aesthetic intended. Along with amazing 4K video comes 4K photo. Users can take a frame grab from the 4K video, which creates the stunning 4K image.

Perhaps the finest aspect, the Lumix LX100 II gives the shooter the option of focus stacking. Similar to bracketing exposure, focus stacking will produce three separate images with focus on three different depths. This will come in handy when users are shooting a shallow depth of field and have the option of different points of focus in the photo. Few things are more frustrating than missing out on the perfect photo due to unwanted blur.

Panasonic aims to keep shooting convenient and DSLR-like with manual exposure controls on the camera body and lens. The Lumix LX100 II features easily accessible dials to control each point of the exposure triangle with ease. It is now available for preorder — with an added battery and charger free — for at Adorama
