Several points: First, I use Tiffen filters for both my UV lens protectors and Graduated and regular ND filters. There is no color distortion that I can detect. This Grad can be handheld in front of the lens if the exposure isn't too long. Second, I use a Zomei ring and Z Holder system for sunrise and sunset shots as the exposure times are longer than I feel comfortable hand holding the filter. Third, this larger filter is really useful for eliminating any shadowing when my zoom wide angle lens is set for focal lengths around 15mm. Although there is more gear to pack in my kit I get much better results than with the circular screw on grad filter. Largely because you have much more flexibility in establishing the horizon line.

Make your photography stand out with the Tiffen 5 x 6" Soft Edge Graduated 1.2 ND Filter, designed specifically for vertical orientation. This high-quality graduated neutral density filter is your perfect companion for capturing stunning landscapes and dramatic skies. It works by darkening the brighter areas of your image, such as the sky, while leaving the rest of your scene untouched.
The filter features a dense edge that gradually tapers to clear at the center, creating a soft-edged line of transition between the dark and clear areas. This allows for a seamless blend of exposure levels within your image, enhancing the overall balance and depth.
Unlike some filters, this neutral density filter does not alter the coloration of your image. Instead, it provides a 1.2 density, which equates to a 4-stop reduction in light entering the lens. This makes it an ideal tool for controlling exposure and depth of field in bright conditions, without compromising on color accuracy.
Constructed from premium Water White glass, this filter offers exceptional clarity and minimal color shift. It's crafted using Tiffen's proprietary ColorCore technology, a meticulous process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, then grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This ensures a high level of precision and consistency for every shot.
Measuring 5" x 6" or 127mm x 152mm, this filter is designed to fit a wide range of lenses, making it a versatile addition to any photographer's kit. Whether you're a professional photographer or a passionate hobbyist, the Tiffen 5 x 6" Soft Edge Graduated 1.2 ND Filter can help you capture the world in a whole new light.
