hdd are dead. ssd upgrade for my os. wanted something good and not that expensive. this is sata iii so it wont get the speed of a m2. fresh win10 2004 install. intel i7-8700t | 12 gb ram

I'm a computer tech/analyst. I bought this drive based on reviews and price. Had an OS error last time I tried to boot into Windows, so I re-imaged my laptop. Today, trying to handle current Coronavirus related issues, it stalls with the SMART error "Checking media {Fail}. No time is convenient for a drive failure, but this drive let me down at an unbelievably bad time. I can't wait to have to deal with tech support.

This drive is really fast and I have not had a minutes trouble with it. It will boot to win 10 in less than a minute and transfer speeds are great although I didn't benchmark it. I could transfer all my files in no time at all. I had fun with windows installation but that was just Microsoft for you. I had to install win 10 3 times for it to be right but each of them were done in record time for me using USB install. I just got tired of mechanical drives in this laptop giving up on me a having to do this too many times so the investment in SSD was well worth it and hope to never have to do it again. I would recommend this drive.

I was getting small glitches in my old HD. Little things. So downloaded a program from the HD manufacturer to see what was going on. We had some problems. So I did some research and found that SSD's had come along way. So I saw the specs and though. "Yea Right"! So I got one. The cloning went flawlessly. I installed it. It worked right away. Not one problem. The restart and shut down speeds were unreal. The little things went away and I also noticed the Accuracy was greatly improved. My defrag reports were flawless. So I'm sold on that I made a very good choice. I'm also getting one for my wifes newer HP next . Also love the Magician software. Tells you anything you might need to know in the future.

The best way to upgrade a laptop or a PC is to use SSD. The Samsung EVO is a great SSD and comes with the tools you need to migrate your data from your old HD

Bought this at a best buy little overpriced compared to online, punching myself for that. But connecting it up I used crystaldiskmark and got advertised speeds. Zooms ahead of my old Seagate hard drive. Cloning was a kind of a problem for me, I had the "reboot and select proper boot" on my MSI h110 mobo, fixed it later by swapping ports. Also the sata power and data seem a little fragile. But a nice SSD overall.

Upgraded my old s-l-o-w PC replacing the 7200 rpm HDD with the SSD drive......amazingly fast - boot and read / writes. It's like moving into a new computer.

My Sony computer had set start up time of 30sec. After cloning and installing new Samsung SDD this times went to around 17-18 sec. Now SSD works for 3-4 years , with no memory lose or spend reductions. Great Product. Thank you.

I ordered a hard disk and tested through the Crystal Disk benchmark. It was only giving 50% less speeds than specifications. I have a 5 yr old Samsung SSD with same operating system which was reading above 500MB/S for the sequential test. I have run the same test with another Samsung SSD 850 EVO, which also gave above 500MB/s. I made sure that all the parameters are same for different SSDs. I got a replacement disk from amazon and it turned to be defective as well. I tried one from Best Buy released in the same month and discovered the same. Samsung's Quality testing has gone downhill and they should be ashamed of themselves for selling so many defective units. Before a person from Samsung replies to my comment, they should also note that I have already contacted Samsung and they said the issue can't be fixed and to return the drive i show them all proof

I get error in Samsung Magician - system compatibility: VID 1002 : Under the current system environment, some functions in Magician CANNOT be run. If multiple iterations of Read and Write are performed, RAPID mode may become inactive due to system internal errors on some of the AMD / AsMedia Controller or Driver. AMD M5A99FX Pro R2.0 ASUS board, latest chipset drivers. I read that as far as back as the 850's this issue has been going on. Live chat resulted in some email will be sent.. I didn't even get to chat in live chat. Waste of time and money, Don't bother.

i've the 250gb version about a month. it works fine. i guess my only issue is the samsung web site when i registered it. all this work done on the web site and it can not display the correct device (serial number is correct) picture when i was done. looks a tad sloppy to me.

New install on new Itel NUC - thing worked half way - will not recognize on any devices at all - even tried USB - linux and 3 computers. Then I fill out the RMA for and was told to call 1-800-samsung after I fill everything out. Then the phone tells me they are closed and told to go to sumsung.com/support to get live chat. Hello!! there is none. Even NEwegg didnt want this thing back, Happy with the m.2 I bought - now - I am playing around trying to get this replaced - Hoop Jumping not Fun. Should have did a WD blue or something... Or better yet get a teamgroup one and deal with failures they might not have...

I've purchased many SSD - EVO's are always my first choice. This is my first 860; I usually get 850's. At this level, there are no noticeable differences between my previous 3 850's and this 860. Consistent, quality, and fast.
