This is my go to lens. I use a P65+ back with an old H1. I prefer the slightly wider perspective of 70mm over 80mm. Even though this is a zoom, the quality is as good as my 80mm prime and in general so much better than either the Mamiya or Schneider 80mm prime. The construction is solid. Note: This lens is best at 50mm, 70mm and 110mm. At all other focal length, I usually stop down to f11 or higher. I shoot still life so this is fine for me. This could be a problem for portrait and fashion photographers. Con: (1) Really heavy for handheld use; (2) the focal length dial slips. I tape it if I am shooting overhead or if I am leaving the camera up overnight. (2) flairs easily because of the convex shape of the front element of the lens Pro: (1) Flairs easily. Some clients like flair. Try flaring with an RZ 90mm or any view camera lens-pain in the butt; (2) you have every focal length from 50mm to 110mm; (3) outstanding image quality-this goes beyond sharpness. For me, it is all about how a 3D space is interpreted for a 2D medium.

This lens has an excellent zoom range and is perfect for tripod work in the studio or shooting landscapes.

I use this lens for landscape, on-location/studio commerical, fashion and editorial work. It's a stellar performer and I get results that are on par with the primes with exception to the HC 100mm 2.2. I went with the 50-110 because I needed a well rounded workhorse and I haven't been disappointed.

This lens will be used for location family portraits on the beach. It was purchased so that lens changes would not have to be made in the middle of a shoot in sandy or windy circumstances. Although it seems heavy at first, it balances well with the camera and is easy to hand hold. In fact, slower shutter speeds, hand held, are not a problem as they might be with a 35mm camera. Be very careful about setting the lens down on the front side. The rollers in the zoom mechanism can wear easily if the weight of the lens is placed on them. One needs only to hold this lens in hand to feel the beauty and artistry of it's design. This is a great lens!

It's a stellar workhorse!

The H1 zoom lens has a zoom range ranging from wide-angle to short telephoto. This lens boasts exceptionally high image quality at all focal length settings, whether shooting film or digital, and is comparable with corresponding fixed focal length lenses.
