Be prepared for the digital age of cinematography with the 5 x 5" Water White Glass Full Spectrum IRND 0.3 (1-Stop) Filter. Designed to meet the unique challenges posed by digital motion picture cameras and imaging devices, this filter is a critical tool for achieving optimal results in various lighting conditions.
Digital imaging devices, while excellent in low light, can easily overexpose in bright situations. This is where the Neutral Density filter comes into play, controlling light and offering greater control over depth of field. Traditional ND filters, made with dyes, have been useful but they allow small amounts of far red to near infra-red light, which can affect image quality and color.
Digital devices are sensitive to infra-red (IR), which can cause unwanted color shifts and even make images appear out of focus. To counter this, Tiffen has pioneered the Full Spectrum IR ND Filters, designed to provide true neutral density into the IR spectrum.
The Tiffen Full Spectrum IR ND filters extend light transmission characteristics into the infrared region, making them essential for cinematographers using devices like the Sony F and EX Series, ARRI Alexa or Panavision Genesis. These filters allow for the use of heavier grades of Neutral Density filters while maintaining color balance.
For cameras without an internal IR Blocking filter, such as the RED ONE and SI2K, Tiffen Full Spectrum IR ND Filters can be used in conjunction with the Tiffen Clear Hot Mirror to fully combat near and far IR pollution.
Manufactured using Tiffen's proprietary lamination process, these filters capture each effect between two pieces of glass. This allows Tiffen to grind and polish both surfaces to achieve perfect parallelism, ensuring worry-free handling for the cinematographer.
Made with Water White glass, these filters are available in a range of sizes, including 4x4, 4x5.650, 5.65x5.65, 6.6x6.6, 95C, 41/2, 138mm, 105C, 72, 77, 82mm wide angle and Series 9. The 5 x 5" Water White Glass Full Spectrum IRND 0.3 (1-Stop) Filter is a versatile tool for any cinematographer looking to capture the perfect shot in the digital age.
